Ok to start we are changing the clutch/T.O./pilot bearing in a 89 240sx...we started by getting a pilot bearing remover from harbor freight which turned out to be just a tad to large..so scrapped that idea

, then heard about packing it with grease and lightly hammering dowel in the middle of the pilot bearing to create a kind of hydralic action to force the pilot bearing out...well we did this but the pos pilot bearing split into a few pieces leaving a smaller but still circuler bearing inside...we have removed some of the pieces but cannot seem to get out the larger piece...wondering if some of the pro's might have any advice...

do u mean a piece fell back in the hole? will the pieces stick to a magnet?

No. It split in the front we got the pieces out but there is still about half of the bearing in there...its still in a full ring as well...

when i got mine out, all i used was a smaller bearing puller and slide hammer from autozone. 2 slides and it was out.

yeah we cant get a hold of that stuff atm...looking for any other ways..

how tight do you turn the pilot bearing remover to remover the bearing, i cannot get mine out

Alright. Finally got so pissed we just drilled the sucker out of there came out like buttteerrr just have to be quite careful not to drill to much into the sides. You also can use a magnet to get the small pieces out..

ya thats not fun. good thing you were able to get it out. im glad mine came out nice and easy.

Uh, the bushing should be non-ferrous. Magnet wouldn't have helped.
