I was gonna ask to see if those were Nismo FLCA and RLCA, but they seem like OEM ones..?
Anyway, looking good, good luck w/ the build ![]() |

Thanks for the replies... I guess if you don't put more content to discuss they lock you here?... Let me start talking then...
All of the suspension arms are just stock painted silver with ES bushings... I have an entire "how to" on the install of those as well as the SPL solid aluminum subframe bushings... Should I post those here as well?... I guess let me talk more about my goals for the newest Sil80... I've always wanted a Ferrari 355... Sure it might be old now but I think it was one of the cars that made a difference in the motorsport community... It was the perfect amount of power and was balanced around the track as well... It was smooth in how it transitioned from corner to corner and screamed down the straightaways... But I can't afford one... even now... And even though there are cars like the M3 and S2000 that came after the 355, I just don't think it is much of a challenge to buy one of those off the showroom and be like everyone else out there... Plus those cars have value and I wouldn't feel comfortable ripping out the interior and flaring the fenders... Now there are the 30K 4WD monsters out there that are really proving themselves which makes me nervous... But maybe we can use some of their own technology against them and use weight to our advantage... I'll get to that in a sec... So that brings me to the 240SX... Lightweight, rear wheel drive, cheap, and a ton of aftermarket support... The only downside I see is the geometry of the front suspension limiting what the car can do... For years I watched and tried the standard modifications... S13 and S14 SR20s, T3/T4 turbos, staggered wheel setups, suspensions, racing seats and I learned a good chunk about the S13... Then it was time to get rid of that learning experience and start on a dedicated "race car"... I'm not sure where I will race but I'll start with lap timing as my first indicator of success... This Sil80 is going on a diet ofcourse... Nothing it doesn't need including AC, heating, sound deadening, interior panels, extra brackets, and eventually some carbon panels... Short term target goal is in the 2400lb range but we'll see where it goes... The footwork is going to start off with just the 17x9s, 235s, ES bushings, SPL subframe bushings, and KTS coilovers... After I get some baseline numbers (and data) as to how I am doing I will start getting LSD and spherical bearings... Documenting the quicker laptimes and impressions throughout... As for the motor this is where I am going to have the most fun... Rebuilt KA24DE with a twin scroll EVO8 turbo... target goal is 300 ft/lb TQ over 3500 RPM... That should be enough to out accelerate an M3 in any gear... I also have ideas of using a progressive boost controller to control the TQ throughout the powerband... So that I would be able to lower and raise the boost at whatever RPM point to maintain that 300 ft/lb I am after... AEM EMS, injectors, super short intercooler piping, and maybe ITBs should finish off the project... And if the KA won't do it, I have my old S14 SR that I'll rebuild and try out... Just last weekend I went to EFI university to learn the basics of tuning as well as I am going to take some classes in welding so stay tuned for a very interesting project... Done the correct way... But in the next couple of weeks I am getting the car on the road/track with the stock single cam KA motor to test out the suspension... Good ideas? Bad ideas?... I welcome your guys and your blunt responses... What's up to Russ, Criss, Norm and all of you others I already know... ![]() |

No, we don't exactly lock threads because nothing is being said, but more because nothing new is being presented. I mean nothing new presented in the face of this:
http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=96924 and this: http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=106249 I will keep this as flame-free as possible, but we like to try and avoid a new "Hi, I am a new member" or "hey guys, look at my [something that other people have]" thread every 48 seconds. |
