i'm putting in my walbro fuel pump for my s14 sr->s14 swap, and in the fsm it says you need a fuel pump lock ring socket. i tried the dealership and several parts stores, and no one can get it. anybody have another way to take it off? i havent actually tried yet, so is it just a pull as hard as u can deal? that wouldnt really make sense tho...

most in-tank pumps have a lock ring & rubber seal holding the assembly in place. the lock ring can be turned open/off by CAREFULLY tapping the ears so the lock ring rotates around until the notches line up. then it all just pulls out of tank. i'm guessing thats what u mean....?

If I'm thinking right, that's the part on top of the tank with bolts on it? It was really simple in my truck, although I didn't remove the pump, just changed the sensor. Anyway, blew up the master picture for you. Don't know if it will help.

That socket would be the correct way, but Yenpit is correct, you can just spin it by tapping it around untill it can come out, just be careful.
