S13 cage for hatch fit a coupe?

I might be picking up a coupe shell tomorrow to replace my hatch project which has bad frame damage to the front from the prior owner. I was wondering if my bolt-in roll cage I brought back from Japan (for a hatch) will fit inside a coupe? The part that concerns me is where the bars bolt down near that aft/wheel well area. Any info is appreciated!

I dont think so, I've thought about this before and last time I was trying to visualize I came up with a 'no'. Haven't tried though, so maybe you can cut through the rear deck and make it work.

I am using my Cusco 6point cage out of my Hatch, it actually design'd for a sunroof hatch and it fits damn near perfect in my coupe.... The shell's are pretty much the same. Only difference i can tell is the roof line is a little off, but not much.

Hmm...that's good news. So maybe it will. I guess I'll find out for sure once I get the new shell here & test fit the cage. Thanks!

This is one of those topics that always seems to have mixed opioion or "facts"

For the record, a company such as Safety21 has different part numbers for all these different applications. S13 Silvia, 180sx, Sunroof, No sunroof, etc...

I have heard both sides on the story.

I have a used cage I bought that was simply labeled as "180sx" So I'm curious to see how it turns out...

The biggest concern would be the rear crossbars. If they're designed to be straight, the bars won't fit in a coupe because the rear trunk panel is there. In the hatch there is nothing behind the backseat except for a little bracket that covers the strut towers.

Depending on the angle, you may be able to cut through the rear panel, but if the angle is too steep there is no way without removing the rear windshield.

Again, it depends on the design of the cage.
