Would it be possiple to hook a leaf blower up to the intake and use that to blow air into the engine from the out side? Would the ECU just put less fuel into the engine to make up for it?

Unfortunately, basic physics deny this possibility.  You can't get more work out than you put in.  The amount of power to need to run the leaf blower will negate any possible increase with the air boost.  Plus, your computer is still only going to allow so much air to come in.  Bottom line, it won't work.  Saw a guy do it before though.

I don't think a leaf blower could put out enough air for your engine, It can "suck" a lot more than a leaf blower could give it I'm pretty sure.

what about those air compressors like at the gas station people use to inflate their tires.

well what about a gas powered blower....essentially like a supercharger, but powered via another engine and not a belt.

i'm going to have to disagree with you guys.......to a point, here's what i think would happen:

idling-about 3/4 throttle-wouldn't work, as stated before the ECU will just close the butterfly valve some to compensate for the extra air

WOT-here's where it might work, butterfly valve is completely open, hairdryer or whatever is blowing extra air in, and hopefully the ECU would detect this and spit some more fuel into the combustion chamber, more air/more fuel=more power

if you really wanted to find out if it works, rig up whatever you want to use, and wire a toggle switch into the car, and during WOT switch it on and off to see if you feel any difference, or take it to a dyno and try it, though you would be subject to constant ridicule

No, no and double no. &nbsp;IT'S A LEAF BLOWER!! &nbsp; How okie are we going to get? <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> &nbsp;Just put a cold air intake tube toward your fender. &nbsp; At speeds, the air force generated there is probably 10 times what the leaf blower could provide. &nbsp;THink of it this way.

Stick your hand in front of the leaf blower. &nbsp;Observe the effect.

Then, stick your hand out the window of your car doing 60. &nbsp;I think you'll find the leaf blower is a worthless idea.

Chicken Man is right. A leaf blower does'nt have enough air flow to make a difference in intake pressure. If you put a boost gauge on and tried it you probably would'nt get any boost. &nbsp; You have to understand a turbo flows alot of air, they are turning at 70,000+ rpm's!!! &nbsp; Not to mention it would probably interfer with air flow more then it would help, and were the #### you gonna fit one?

i have seen pictures and read about people who did it, i made no claims that this was a good idea, just that it did have the potential to produce positive results

Gas powered leaf blowers make alot of power. if you could somehow mount it infront of the radiator and have it shooting air straight to throttle body, or maybe two leaf blowers. i dont know how u would figure out how to control the leaf blowers tho.
