Does anyone know witch wire I need to cut to get rid of the speed limiter (if I can even do it) on my 96' 240. My friend cut a wire on his s13 and it removed the limiter succesfully, but he doesnt remember witch wire it was.

Thanks,
Ted

dont be stupid and start cutting wires..do it right or dont do it at all..get ur ECU reprogramed..or buy a new ECU JWT or something..i recommend u start cutting wires...i would rather jack up my car and take out the senors for my 4th and 5th gear..rather than cutting wires..if u wanna know more..visit

www.240sx.org

in the FAQ or something they tell u how to do it

It's a 93 240sx ka. The s13 is the chassis designation. I have plans to get the jwt ecu, injectors, maf, and fuel rail but I just put 4g's in the turbo kit. My friend cut the wire and removed his speed limiter with no ill effects at all now whats wrong with that? I won't be able to afford the mods till next april when I do internals and up the boost to 22psi.

Whats wrong? Whats the point of going so fast? Your going to kill someone. 120 mph is fast enough. Besides where the hell are you going to bust something above 120 mph?

Who are you....his mother. I believe its the yellow wire that goes into the ecu. Do a search, and you should come up with the info. I don't know if this has been tried on the 95 and up 240's...just heard of people doing it on the s13.

there are 3 plugs on the side of the manual tranny. one is a reverse indicator, one is a 5th gear indicator and the third is the speedometer. unplug the 5th gear sensor (the one in the middle). the computer reads RPM and gear selection. when you reach around 5500 in 5th gear it will trip a rev limiter.

don't cut any wires, they all have plugs

Is that for an S13 or S14? I have no idea if the tranny sensors changed through the years! My reverse sensor is busted off on my tranny so when i am cruising down the road my reverse lights will come on by themselves, but it is a bitch when you are in a parking lot trying to back out b/c no one can tell.
I also agree w/ the "Mother" comment. If you don't want to answer the question for him, then just don't say anything!

Thanks for all the help. About the mother comment, it's not that i'm going to go that fast but it's nice to know that I can. What is the purpose in putting performance mods on you car if you can't test the full potential of your cars power.

just for some info, i heard of someone doing the one where you remove the sensors for 4th and 5th on the tranny and then he oculdnt even use them, the only one ive heard works is cutting the wire, its on 240sx.org in the faq which one and everything, but i have no idea, do at your own risk, has anyone on here done this to there car? cause it surely is amazing annoying, i had a cherokee(or however you spell it) try to race me on the highway, i smoked him up to like 190km then the damned limitor cut me off and he caught up and passed me.....a fucken cherokee!!!!!!! Anyway, i shouldnt have been going that fast anyway, but wtf

I have removed the 5th gear sensor plug on my track car. I was hitting the limiter on the back straight at Mid Ohio. I am still able to use 5th gear(? if that's what you meant?).

On my S14 95, (SE Canadian) I unplugged the 5th gear sensor...and it didn't change anything....

For everyone who think that you can just cut the VSS wire....yes you can, but the ECU will be in a kind of safe mode... so it won't play with timming and other things....so I would say Don't Do it!

Buy a HKS FCD....or upgrade the chip.

this is the funniest fuckin post I have seen in a while. I agree I wanna take off my speed limiter too. I beat an escalade 3 times all on 1 highway but we both maxed out at 120 so it was good cuz he didn't take me when we got to 120, but I could have fuckin blew him away real bad if frigin nissan didn't make the car go so fuckin slow, I mean come on 120 I do that in my driveway!

Hmmm... I don't remember my silvia ever having a speed limiter. The speedometer only went up to 180kph and it was supposed to kick in there but I used to take it passed that all the way to about 7000rpm in fifth gear(whatever speed that is). Why don't you do whatever other mods you have planned for your car first and then afterwards just have your ECU reprogrammed for that and at the same time have you speed limiter removed and the revlimiter raised to whatever you want to. Thats just my suggestion.

How fast would the 240sx go with the stock engine? Maybe minor mods like intake exhaust and weight reduction but nothing else.

I would have to say that weight reduction would be a bad thing or do nothing o increase top end speed. I would say that with 155hp to the ground (assuming you have I/H/E) you will hit the max speed at about 135-140???

I would just wait and do the JWT upgrade (no $&#036 and not worry about removing the speed limiter but it seems like now that I have a turbo, I just want to destroy every mustang and Honda owners pride on the road but if I have to stop at 120, it wont make mustang boy feel like the bitch that I want him to feel like after he experiences what a 240 can do to his pride!!!

Someone here posted a link to a program to tell max speed in each gear. According to that its 162MPH @ 7000RPM. Of course we don't have enough power to do that much.....
