ahhh no wonder, it's an APC. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> Kidding. (sort of...)
Anyway my best understanding of "brain" would be ECU ... but plugging your tach into your ECU? Sounds kind of strange. Maybe your fuse box? ...errr...

on your ECU there is at least 1 wire that carries a "tach" signal. The voltage on this wire changes as the engine RPMs change. What year is your 240? If you go to a place that installs alarm systems they can probably find it for you.

Wait a minute. &nbsp; It's a 90, right? &nbsp;Doesn't that just have a regular distributor coil? &nbsp; That'd be easy as anything. &nbsp;Does the distributor have a central post?

If it's an internal coil in the dist, then probe wires from the condenser unit on the side of the dist. &nbsp;Should be a blue and a black. &nbsp; One of those is it. &nbsp;Check them with a volt meter and rev it. &nbsp; The voltage will go up and down.

You just can't get it to light up? LOL. Did you try hooking it up to a 12V source?

i did hook it up to a power source...its not as easy as you think though...the white wire that normally comes with tachs has been replaced by a little box with two black wires a red wire and a white wire. &nbsp; Its the color inverter/control moddule. &nbsp;I dont know where that goes. &nbsp;Hooking it up to a 12v source doesnt get it to turb on...All this doesnt really matter though...i returned it cause its a POS APC. &nbsp;thanks thought guys.
