OBD II State Inspection and SR20DET

Hi everybody. I have searched all the forums about SR20det and state inspection. I know above a 1996 has to have a computer inspection with obd II. All the posts I searched never came up with an answer on how to do it. Everybody ended up arguing about laws. I don't want to hear about the laws, I know SR20det motors are illegal. I want a solution. The OBDII will communicate with the DMV. You need to pass this part with your VIN number communicated from the ECU so you can register your car when the registration expires. The SR ECU is a different ECU than the stock so your OBD II connecting harness is rendered useless. PLEASE Somebody tell me the solution. And please do not recommend to swap back the old motor as a solution.

if by state inspection you mean smog iirc there is no solution to that. like said over and over again better make friends with a tech real quick.....if you mean actual state inspection by ref...you're pretty screwed. i guess either way you're not gonna be happy

I think you all are misinterpretting what I am saying. I am in NY and as per the DMV site, any inspection shop has a computer that connects directly to your obdII harness. Now with an SR in there:
(1)the ECU is different, so the VIN that is read is different
(2)not all sensors are there and it will fail for sure.
(3)Whether you pass or fail, the information is communicated to the DMV. Getting the sticker won't be a problem but when you go to renew the registration, the DMV won't see it in their system that you passed emission testing. I want to know what can be done when the computer is connected to the OBD II with an SR inside and how can the shop computer communicate a pass to the DMV.

SR's are not OBDII so your shit out of luck. The computer will not be able to read your ecu. If you don't know how to get around this, asking on a public internet forum is just plain dumb. It pretty much announces ,hey everyone I want to violate the law show me how. In other words your on your own and asking here is a mistake.
You do realize NY police or smog authorities could be reading this site don't you?

hehehe your not understanding. being that your car is obd2 the shop has to be able to read your ecu. without a functional obd2 port you're car no passy smog....so that leads to the conclusion that you NEED to find a "nice guy" so find a way around that themselves...because wether or not you have an obd2 car the state will recieve that your car failed, because of the non functioning obd2. and that means you dont get you registratioins stickers....think about it ob1 cars dont hook up to the computer to be sent to the dmv, the fail or pass gets sent to the state no matter what. so even if you car passes the emissions part of the test it doesnt pass the obd2 part which in turn equals fail....^pretty much told you....thats why my car is basically stock....no problems.

i cant believe people still ask these questions

the SR does NOT have a OBDII system, as far as i know NO JDM engine is equipped with an OBD smog system.

you can NOT use your car to run the smog machine, i repeat you can NOT

you can find another stock S14 to run on the smog machine for you, but that is illegal. But then again the SR20det is illegal. it's simple as that, come on now, is it really that hard to find this information?

sr20det sr20 sr smog check inspection obdii obd2 obd1 obd obdi illegal legal dmv registration swap rb rb25det rb25 rb20 rb20det rb26dett rb26det rb26 ca ca18 ca18det JDM front clip engine motor japanese japan cali california socal norcal los angeles ref referee

i think that's enough key words for every search from here on out, feel free to add to that list everyone.
