I want to know if I can add intake, catback, header, and any other mods. I want to be able to pass emissions in CA, is their a way around the emissions tests? Any one have input from experiences in CA. I would really appreciate it, I don't want to invest in something and have a problem down the road.

From what I hear, headers aren't technically legal, but if they aren't noticed by the smog people, you could get away with it.

I believe it's legal to get an intake though and a catback. I don't know about the other stuff.

Oh yea, but someone DID mention that the Greddy turbo kit for our cars will be out this year, and it will be legal for us California people.

In some places in CA you'd have to do the mechanic a favor for him to pass you. Do what I used to do:

1. Hire a hooker.
2. Send him to your mechanic.
3. Come back the next day and pick up your smog receipt passing with flying colors.
4. Drive your car and live happily ever after, until the next smog check.

As long as your part has a CARB sticker on it, then it should go through OK. Injen's intake is CARB legal. I have an Apex-i exhaust and is not CARB legal, but I still passed my smog test. The trick is to take it to the Mexicans or the Arabians and they won't hassle you. If you take it to white people, they ask too many questions and are pricks about it sometimes.

Bottom Line: If they're minor bolt ons, you should be good to go as long as the tester aparatus doesn't smell anything funny. If you have a turbo, it probably won't pass to begin with. Hope this helped.

Like evotek said, the easiest is to take it to some small place and pay them to pass you. My friends used to take it to some small mom & pop place to pass theirs. If you want to be legal, make sure everything you get is carb legal. Or if all you're getting is bolt ons, just change it back to stock when getting your smog done.

Ok there are a lot of smog techs here in Cali that will pass the car if it passes tailpipe. i actually have one right next to where I live that told me he gave up on visual awhile ago with all the changes the manufactures make and all the aftermarket bolt ons if it passes tailpipe hes happy . You get your smog cert and off you go
