ok i have the base model (4-lug) '96 240SX and i was wondering what i would need to do in order to do a 300ZX brake swap.  also, would the 300ZX brakes fit within the stock 15" wheels on the base 240?

I can only speak for the UK spec cars but as far as I am aware you will have to do a complete hub swap along with the calipers. I think you will have to junk the standard wheels as the 300zx units are MASSIVE and the offset of the standard wheels won't clear them (also changes  4-5 stud config) . Do the sr20det 240's you guys run have the 300zx front brakes cause the UK  spec ones do. Due to this we junk them and fit skyline kit  and the s13 chaps use our old ones!!!!!

I think a hub swap would be the way to go. Be v.careful with the rears tho. My uk spec s14 has the 300zx fronts but the rears are tiny in comparison. 80-90% of the braking on a car is done by the fronts so if you fit bigger (and more efficient) calipers on the back then the rears will probably lock up unless you fit some kind of adjustable brake bias kit. Try posting on the nissan200sx.co.uk forum. There are loads of blokes on there that have converted UK spec s13's to s14 front so they will be able to help you more than I can. Good luck m8!!!! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

The other way to go is to just get the rotors redrilled for 4 lug. IIRC, Don at PDM sells 300zx rotors in four lug. A lot cheaper than rehubbing the car at all four corners.

*edit* &nbsp;Oh and Graham - our cars do not come with the z32 front brakes - that is an upgrade that we do on our own. &nbsp; However, as the rotor and caliper sizes are very similar between the z32 and the Skyline (almost identical), why would you swap those on? &nbsp; And no, there is no real bias problem, just a bit of initial pedal sponge from the smaller master pushing the multi pot calipers up front.

its not just the rotors im interested in, because the 300ZX also has better calipers, right?

Correct - you will need calipers, rotors, pads, and lines (special for the conversion sold at PDM).

Send a message via ICQ to Freak Leash 240
You will also need at least 16&quot; wheels to clear the calipers.

IIRC, the factory s14 15's should clear just like certain s13 15&quot; wheels. &nbsp;Anyone know for certain?

Try a post on the UK forum (address earlier in the thread) for info on fitting them. I know a few of the members have done it so they should be able to help.
