I have a pounding headache at the moment because I just got off the phone with the people (stage performance) that I usually order mods upgrades or just oem parts through. Well at lunch at taco bell today, I called them up and gave them a list of things to order for me... but to call me first to confirm the price before I made a final decision. I basicly asked for all components (gave a list c/o KidZelda) needed for the 5 lug swap/ Z32 TT brake upgrade.

As I was on my way home I noticed I had a voice mail so I checked and it was them telling me to call them. I called, and come to find out that the price for all the parts I asked for came out to be $1793... I was astonished.

On top of this, I've been trying to source some 5 lug wheels so I can drive the car... Well I tried Fitz (its sort of like a junkyard). They wanted 150 dollars per Z32 TT wheel and thats without tires.

Alright the point of this post really is to have anyone with a heart or soul... or both, help me out for finding a cheaper way to do this. My brakes are litterally gone, it takes me probably double the distance to stop than when they're semi good. I know pdm sells a kit for this for about 900 something, but thats still too much. I've completely run out of ideas on where to get the rims with tires for around 250 because thats about the max I can afford. I have thought about buying Z31 Turbo rims, but Im not sure they can clear the 30mm calliper...

Well any help is greatly appreciated... FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HELP!!!

okay, check napa/autozone/etc online for z32 calipers, there've been some good deals in the 4sale/group buy area, I just recently saw one that had decent prices (at all times, not a limited deal ) on z32 rotors... you can get the SS lines from PDM, green stuff pads there too if you wanna go that route... go to discounttire.com and check their sales for cheap rims (mine are now like 60% off dammit! ) and tires. I checked all this out a month or 2 ago and came up with $550-600 for the whole brake deal, this included all parts, fluids, and tools (speed bleeders, etc). Rims/tires if u only want 2 shouldn't be more than 350 or so for cheap new stuff (and by that i mean some decent rims, u could go cheaper, but prolly not a good idea if you're spending the &#036

Hit me back if you think you need some help looking, but as I recall, finding all the parts (once I knew what I needed) was very quick and easy.

Thanks yoshi, not everything they gave me prices for there were to expensive, but they wanted like 300 bucks a piece for the S14 SE spindles/knuckles... I was like umm wtf. Although the calipers and rotors were all about 100 bucks a piece (given 2 calipers, 4 rotors). I didnt even think to try napa, and I guess I could hunt around for some other rims. Im just so nervous about getting rims online esp if they dont fit and im fucked Time to make a few calls

Dude check on a 300ZX forum for the wheels. They may not be the TT rims but I know I've seen at least the NA rims for like 250-300 for a full set. I don't remember if that included tires though... I dont know how bad you want the TT rims but at least with the NA rims you could drive your car...

Sr20fastback, you want the 5 lug swap I can sell you it for $450 as far as the z brakes go . Autozone's not a bad way to go $110 with core $180 without. you do not want to change your rears to Z brakes unless you want to do the parking brake cable extension. Even so I could probably hook you up with the rears for around $150 so let me see 450+180+150+250 for a set of 5 lug wheels so thats $1130 which is about $600 cheaper than they quoted. that is also a top price estimate on my part i.e. i might be able to do for less but not sure. Though I do know thats the most it would cost you.

The only difference between NA and TT rims is that the rear TT rims are a little wider. Otherwise they are the same. The TTs have NA rims on the front.

Yeah I just found that out a little while ago. Looks like this swap is going to be a little to time consuming at the moment so Im gonna put it on the back burner for a week or 2. I think Im just gonna get some cheap pads for now, at least that way I'll stay alive to see the Z brake upgrade however long from now

I thought owning and doing something to a 240SX was expensive regardless.

What car do you have? I know the S-14 SE wheels will clear the calipers by just a bit. You can find those and touch them up a bit. I never really like Z rims on a S-14, unless its the 350Z.

That sucks. I just bought 4 piston calipers, vented front and rear rotors, TII springs/struts, hubs, wheels/tires, and everything else I need to do the 5 lug conversion on my FC for $250. I noticed a big difference in pricing for both cars on similar parts.

Yeah, just be patient and shop around. Get a list of junk yards and put together a list of "wanted part". I just got 2 front TT aluminum calipers, 1 rear caliper, and a master cylinder (1990 TT) for $35 each from a junkyard I found on the web. For the 300zx wheels, check ebay and twinturbo.net. A few weeks back I was watching an auction on ebay for some Z32 TT wheels (minus tires). The reserve wasnt met, so I emailed the guy and asked him what he'd take for them. He said he had them sold for $150, so I offered him $175..and he took my offer. It was $75 to ship them...so I had $250 invested in a set of TT wheels. Not bad.....they do have some curb rash that Im gonna file down...then black powdercoat.

The Z32 NA rims are 16 inch 7.5 inch wide, OEM tires are 225/50/R16

The Z32 TT rims have 16 inch 7.5 inch fronts, and 16 inch 8.5 inch rears. OEM tires are 225/50/R16 fronts, 245/45/R16 rears. I plan on using 225/45/R16 for my fronts.

Good luck,

-m
