Not unless you feel like doing a lot of cutting... hell, it barely fits in a 300ZX as it is...
If you want an insane engine swap, an RB-series engine or an American V8 makes a lot more sense. |

no way man. the RB26 bearly fits in the S14s becuz of the twin turbo is hitting the steering column. to me it is IMPOSSIBLE to make the 3.0L fit into our cars, the RB26 is problems already and its a 2.6L. it Seems impossible, but with money u can do it. |

I believe even with money you can't really do it. I mean you can make it fit but from what I've heard it sits up about 3 inches above where your hood sits so you'd have to modify the hood. I just don't see how you could raise your hood level without it looking bad.
On a side note, I just pulled my VG30DE today and for the hell of it hung it next to my S13 just to compare. The thing is huge and looks like it would tip the 240 onto it's nose. Probably not but I'd love to see someone pull off that swap.

The Displace ment has nothing to do with fit. The RB26 is an inline 6 the VG is a V6 totally different block designs. The fittment issues are totally different. As far as wether it will fit or not. I don't think any one here knows for sure. The VG30et has been done as has the VH45DE (q45 motor). I am pretty sure that the VG30dett could work. It may need new exhaust manifolds to clear the strut towers as dose the VH. I admit that would be a challange to relocate the turbos and redesign the manifolds, but not impossible. Saying it bearly fits in the Z so it won't fit in the S chassis is pure conjecture. Unless you have measured the motor and measured the space between the strut towers, you can't be sure. |

the older VG's are doable...as those old 30ET's are smaller then the newer DETT's....I've seen the pic of the guy on freshalloy's engine...and it's pretty small...compared to a VG30DE that I've looked at.
also, I'm don't remember, but is the old VG30ET a v6? or I6? because you'll also have to take into consideration the dual exhaust(don't lower your car too much)..or somehow bring them into single...just something to think about I wouldn't say it "can't" be done....but you really need to consider what you're trying to do...what the goals are. In my opinion, besides originality...there really is no reason to do this swap. |

Z32 Engine Bay... Why would you want to take and put an engine like that in a Silvia... Sans the the n2o, the blowoff valves, strut tower bar, and dressup, thats what a stock Z32TT engine bay looks like.. Z's have such a problem with the tight fit that the bay heats up, and they have all sorts of cooling problems, the heat eats up the belts, blah, blah... if you still want to attempt to put that engine into a s chasis, you either have way more balls than me... or are way stupid and have way more balls than me.

there was a site with a yellow 240 with the VG30DETT in it. it had a few clips of the car in motion and some times, i havent seen it in a long time but it is out there.
it could no doubt be done, but it is very impractical what with the sr being cheaper and having similar power potential. |

i remember the website you guys are talking about. the quarter mile time was supposedly 12.00 with the stock engine. personally i don't believe it because i don't think having a 300 horsepower Z engine in a car that weighs 2700 lbs is going to result in 12's. and it was 12.00 exactly, with no trap speed and no time slip <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

You can get a ton more HP easier and more reliable out of a VG30dett then a SR20det, not to mention the torque advantage <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=' ![]() |

I don't know of any overheating problems. Also ca18guy is right, you can mod a TT to 600hp fairly easily. So I wouldn't say that you get similar power potential out of an SR. That said, they are 2 different cars and engines and I would like to see one put into a 240 but don't think it would look cheesy. Just doen't seem to suit the 240sx style.
