Coilovers

Which do you guys recommend for track duty? I am not a millionaire so please no "wait and save up 3 grand for these super awesome coilovers, anything under a grand sucks" because thats basically just not true. I have searched but didn't really find anything for a track dedicated car.
Right now I am looking to spend about 900 dollars and have seen some tein basics, ksports and meagans for that price. What would you track (NASA) guys recommend and what are some good sway bars? Thanks in advance.

See, i did search, that the point. That thread has NOTHING to do with tracking a car, but i still read all five pages. There may have been a post here or there about tracking, but the guy says in his OP that he wants soft coils for the rough roads of new york, nothing about a truely track dedicated car.

P.S., I did search and didn't find exactly what I was looking for and I am not going to sift through 300 pages of posts with 10 pages per post, sorry, I am just like 99% of people in the world that come to forums to ask questions. I spent an hour searching, that was enough time for me, so I decided to start my own thread. You guys really don't HAVE to respond, you can ignore it and move on and we can all live happy lives. Forum nazis are a little to crazy on this site.

too many opinions and not enough hard facts
its pretty safe to say the three choices you listed there are garbage, however

if you want a nasa/scca opinion then go ask on a nasa/scca forum
my guess is they will say GC sleeves, select-your-own-rate springs, and koni/bilstein/etc. shocks
that's probably your best route given your budget anyway

I think he drives the car on the streets, so I doubt they are all track miles, and really, with 5k miles anything short of offroading shouldn't cause too many problems. Im going to check them out before I buy them, if I buy them.

No offense to the guy that pm'd you, that is a good price, but I'd stay away from the JIC's if this is a dedicated track car. On our car we run the Tein Mono Flex with a 12kg/9kg set up and so far its far better than any coilovers we have previously ran. We originally had the KTS with 12kg/10kg springs, which they did the job, and on certain turns @ Button Willow and Big Willow our set up would bottom out. Comparing it to the Mono Flex the difference is night and day even with the Mono's at full soft. Anything in the lines of KTS and other brands in that price range are great setups...for the street but for a dedicated race car they leave much to be desired.

Your price range doesn't leave very many options for your self in a track only suspension setup. Like a previous poster said "sell a kidney" LOL, or do something, to save for a quality piece. Progress, KW Variant 3, and other brands that have taken checkered flags will be a safe bet, but that is way out of your stated price range.

someone should just sticky a thread that tells noobs what are good companies and what type of coilovers are good for drift/grip/road racing etc so we don't get this same thread made every 4 days. not saying your a noob. if i were you id save up some more money and get the power by max or stance coilovers the prices on those coilovers are very reasonable.

That would be a good idea. Honestly, this forum is set up worse than any other I have used before (10-15). There should be ALOT more categories, like a seperation for engine, suspension, interior, wheels, tires, audio, like every other car fourm has. I suggested it in the "forum suggestions" section.

If that's the case the KTS off the shelf setup worked great when we were still in the HPDE level. The car wasn't caged at all and we didn't even do any chasis modifications at that time. I'm sure the Stance and the Max setups would serve you well as other reputable members have said. Tein HE work well also but the lowest I'd go in their line would be the HA's. Just stay away from the discount brands or the lower end models. Discount brands will remain nameless. LOL.

Megans are cool...if I were a car theif I'd use them to replace the cinder blocks used to prop the car when the wheels were stolen.
