Ok, so my 240 has been out of commission for 3 months now, and it is driving me crazy! I just now have had time to pull the motor and assess the damage. I spun a rod bearing in cylinder 3. Crank has a small scratch, and the connecting rod 3 is shot. The head is fine, but debris from the bearing also ruined my cams. The cam journals are fine though. I currently have a rebuild kit from top-line, with a new oil pump, chain yada yada. I have a set of stock cams coming also, and those will replace the bad ones.
I also have a buddy that is going to give me basically a short block, The crank is good, and same with the rods. Should I Frankenstein my buddy's motor and use the crank and rods in my block?
Or should I just pick up a short block from a company and drop that in, avoiding the frustration that I am having now?
I have searched and searched for the past week and found very little info.
Does any body know a reputable short block builder? or should I rebuild this thing myself?
Have you heard anything about these guys?

I appreciate the patience you guys are giving me. I have searched, and it yielded little results. I need help soon, as the parents want their garage back.

It depends on what your plans for the car are.

If you are going to just use it as a daily, id say go with the new short block. An almost new motor for $575 seems like a good deal. You may want to check out some other forums/boards to try to get some feedback about the company. Also maybe the BBB.

If your going to mod it, ka-t or even do a swap down the road. Go the mix and match route, and save the money for a build down the road. No point in buying new stock internals if its a project car and your going to go with forged in a couple months anyways....unless you need the car running now

I think you should buy the short block and give us some feedback.

hey i have the same problem a rod knock in my engine, ask the company if u get another person would they lower the price.
