I would get a clip if you want to do a bone stock sr20 swap. If you plan on running a front mount intercooler / performance radiator and things like that just get a motor set.

Actually, the motor set will be cheaper at first, but once its all said & done, I think the clip would be cheaper, thats if you just want everything you need to get it running.
The motor set will be cheaper at first but you will still have to get the rest of the parts that are needed to get the motor running.
All in all, in the long run you might save your self some money and time by just getting the clip, even if you want to upgrade later you can always sell the stock parts and get new aftermarket parts, ya-know!!..

IMO i think you will be happier with the clip because you will find the engine in better condition. when i picked up my clip, there were engines in the way, and when i saw these dudes moving the motor/tranny sets out of the way to get to my clip, i was like "oh shit". they just drag them around, kick them, push them with forklifts. so motorsets get knocked around and treated like shit, and a front cilp, usually gets shipped, sits in the warehouse on a rack and is not moved around as much as motorsets.

i didn't have the time, experience, proper tools and stands to rebuild an engine and do a complete overhaul, but if you do have things like that and a garage, save some money get the motorset, if not, get the clip. keep in mind the clip comes with suspension components too.

I purchased a clip and was very satisfied. I reccomend this route to everyone performing a swap. As previously stated, the motor will be in better condition. I thing i liked the most was the fact that i had the option of using all of the factory brackets, hoses, and other small components which made for a very clean, factory looking install. Also with the motor still in the clip it gives you a chance to see where and how every piece is located.

yeah if you're going for price...go with a clip. usually you can get a few extra bucks for the other goodies that come with the clip (digital climate control if it has it, shifter trims, dash's, other knick nacks and bricka brak.

i went the motor set route..and spent around 6k on building it (decent swap, but nothing i'd write home about just yet.)

I think that if you can find a front clip with a reasonable price, then go with that. I know people have been raising the price on sr20. But when I bought my front clip, I sold a bunch of little stuff off of it and made about 500 dollars back. The money maker was all the digital climate control sensors and accessories. Mine also came with a jdm gauge cluster.
