how big can i go? would i be ok with 45/225 or should i do sumthing like 50/205 or 40/235s etc? all i care about is the width.. the height is going to be either 45 or 50 depending on the width.. thanks guys!

215s are fine for a 7" width.. You can go 225 and it should be fine.  Try the tire calculator

225's will fit, but I'd go with 215's.

Yes, USE the tire size calculator.  All the sizes you mentioned are too short.  Seems to be a common theme here.  This ain't a Civic, you can put some real meat in the fenders.

A 225/50-16 will fit on a 16x7 wheel just fine.  In fact 7" is the recommended rim width for many 225/50-16 tires.

i used 215/45/16 falken azenis and fm901s when i had 16x7. response was great. enjoyed them A LOT

i might go with these... Dunlop SP A2... what do you guys think? any comments on these? my problem is i have to worry about wet traction.. and also snow traction.. i wouldnt be driving in the snow.. but i may have to for like 5 to 10 minutes from work or something...

The SP Sport A2 is a good M+S tire for a daily driver.

If you don't plan on driving in the snow I don't see why you'd bother with an M+S rated tire though.  The dry performance difference between an M+S tire and a "summer" tire is huge.

i used to run with 225/50/15 on my steeles. &nbsp;it was fine. &nbsp;i drove for 2 years and had no problem with the tires.

My dunlop sp8000 225's on ROH 16.5 alloys. They work great except for in snow, thats why mine is in storage already.
