s14 rod nock sound

i was wondering if someone could help me out,i have an sr red top its making this weird knocking sound after its running for a couple minutes...do you guys think its something serious????

You can find a auto stethoscope for about 15 bucks. It might take you an hour but you will be able to pinpoint it.

I have an S14 SR and I have the same problem, except mine knocks at idle and it goes away once you rev past 2500 RPM.. I've done plenty of research and they say it has something to do with the VCT. But you say you have a red top SR so i dont know man..

Could also be lifter tick, but some frame of reference or more information would be useful. Rod knock will usually be loudest if you get under the hood and hold the throttle to about 1krpm and blip it by hand quickly. The sudden accel will usually make rod knock louder for that split second. You will hear a hollow metal knock/thump. If the noise doesn't do that or it is just a high pitched ticking it's probably lifter tick.
