hey kids! guess what? im thinkin of removing my blown out shocks and my tired ol' springs. you see... my car is leaning to the left... which makes me feel very fat . i was thinking of going with TIEN coil overs (edfc compatible) but they are kinda pricy. the RSR springs are prety cheap but whats your take on them? i havent really heard too much about the RSRs so if anyone has them please tell me how they ride and show me some pics too! and also whats a good set of springs/ coilovers? thanks again!

ps- i have the stock S13 SE (195 R15) rims on my car. i also have the ricohet from ADR on them (225 R16). i hope it'll look clean.

yes my car is a 91 s13 coupe.

Wow...I can't believe someone is selling RS-R springs. RS-R's been gone from the U.S. market since March 2000, when Racing Beat stopped importing them. I've never experienced them in an S13, but my friend had them on his Prelude, and they handled well (combined with performance shocks) and rode well, too...Hmmm, I may have to look into these.

hmmm.... thanks for the reply but... TIENS or RSRs? heheh thanks

i heard RSRs ride kinda hard... but Jspec uses RSRs on their project 180sx... which is cool! so which means since my DEAD stock SE springs are hard as rocks anyway... RSRs wont affect my ass none right?

But TIENs are soo cool! i mean TIENs? damn... but then when i got into som J-land thread people said they were kinda on the low point...

im not sure anymore... TIENs cost more than my car

unless they changed, JSpec uses KG/MM springs, and an RS*R exhaust (sounds good, i have an RS*R exhaust too!&#33

anyways. that's why its harsh. the RS*R thru that site is 3/3kg spring rates (on s13, s14 is 3.8/3kg), about same drop as prokits and a lot cheaper. um..pesonally i would take the RS*R on just those 3 reasons

edit: certain models of teins are bottom of barrel. imho. i have HEs so i have all the rights to talk crap. here's a few:
no stopper on the damper (can go 23 clicks but should only do 16 or it will destroy shock-blwo out)
small shock piston (when compared with Apex, JIC, Zeal, HKS..etc)
rust (certain models)

also, tein does make some VERY NICE HIGH END coilovers, just not available in the USA unless special order.

You're comparing Tien coilovers to RSR springs? Of course, there's no comparison, the Tiens win hands down, no matter how crappy they are. But, there's the whole thing of 10 times the cost of the springs. And I think there are some better options besides Tein out there...JIC, Zeal, and Section to name but a few. I know someone on here has a signature that goes "Tien's are Japan's throw-away coilovers." A friend has JIC's on his Primera, and the ride/handling is out of this world. But, if you don't have $1450 to drop on suspension (and these were SF-1's, a low end model), you're stuck with a choice of springs and shocks. Then, the RS-R's are a pretty good choice.

I had RS*R springs on my S14A. They were great. Not harsh at all but not too soft either. For street driving I wouldnt go with anything else.
