I need an LSD and saw the s15 LSDs on Ebay. What I want to know is if that will just drop into my S13 pumpkin or what Id have to do to make it fit. My cars like a week away from going in to get painted so im picking up parts now for when it gets out. As always your replies are appreciated.

It depends on what kind of diffs you are getting

Dont use the spray paint.....you can buy a yellow grease tube from the GM parts department. That works well...if you know how to interpret the lash marks the pinon gear leaves on the diff gears. My advice to you is to take the pumpkin and the LSD into a tranny/gear shop....and have them shim match if for you.

As for the helical unit from an S15, in short, it won't work. (guessing you are eyeballing the ones on ebay) The S13/S14 output flange's spline shafts are a smaller diameter. S15 output flanges (which aren't even included) won't bolt to your axles anyway. I'm currently trying to verify the possibility of using old Skyline output shafts which are relatively cheap/easy to get, I just can't get a straight answer. Failing that, I'll probably end up buying S15 flanges (cha-ching) and machining/welding them. You'll need something to smear on the ring gear to make sure it's meshing correctly (I used spray paint but don't recommend it), and if it doesn't, you'll need a thicker or thinner shim. this lesson brought to you by Tony from atlanta after his research into the matter <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=' ![]() Actually, The S15 pumpkin WILL bolt onto the S14 axles--they're identical. I wouldn't get one of these HLDs on eBay unless it included the pumkin/casing--they never do... -ty |
