What Turbo Should I Get???

I have a sr20 red top with a s15 t28 rite now, pushing some where around 250 to the wheels. Planning to get somewhere around 350hp to the wheels and don't know what turbo to get. Any suggestion? I don't need any turbo that will be over kill, just something that will get me to 350-400hp.

Thxz for help.

So how about you learn how to search. Then learn how to read a compressor map for efficiency purposes. Then Select a group of turbos that can produce your said power goals. Find an effiecient turbo so you don't whine when your turbo sucks. Buy said turbo!

Sorry. I had to say it. I'm upset because my crapper is back looged and I have to poop!

GT35R Drag Racing, Freeway runs, Top Speed shootouts
GT3076R Time Attack, Drag Racing, Large Grip Courses
GT3071R Time Attack, SCCA, Large Drift Courses, Street Dragin
GT2871R Auto-x, Smaller Time attack courses, Drifting, messin around
GT28R Parking Lot Auto-X

Those are my picks from garett.

Now just figure out what kind of racing your doing.

I really wish I could afford a GT35R and 3071R so I could switch them out for different Track events. one day.

You have many choices for example if you want to with the Garrett line up you have the GT2871r .64 or .86 a/r, GT2876r, HKS GT-RS GT-SS GT2540, Apexi AX53B60, Tomei Arms B8446, or Greddy T518z 8cm2. All these have different choices of turbine housings to match you application whether it be for peak performance or good response w/ HP rating from 350-400+. Then you have ball bearing turbochargers and journal bearing turbochargers to choose from. With this size frame of turbochargers the response between a BB turbo and a Journal bearing is really not noticed(maybe 100-200rpm difference) But supporting mods can help this if your that needy about it.

Many SR enthusiasts like to be on a budget so a good choice would be Garrett's line up of maybe the GT2871r. If you dont mind spending another couple hundred I would go for the Greddy T518z for reasons being that MHI parts are highly durable than garrett units, Oil cooled for easy installation and turbochargers run at its highest efficiency when hot, and my favorite is because its rebuildable. The Greddy turbos are proven to be far superior in quality, design and reliability. But thats just my choice from what I experienced.

But in reality any of these turbo mentioned will put a smile on your face and your guts in the back seat. So its up to you.

t88!!!!!!!!

theres alot of factors just like said above....

the best way to do it is really spend some time and search. you will learn far more from searching than you ever would by posting questions...this site is like an open book full of knowlege its crazy. i learn something new everyday because every day i click the search button.....

anyway. from the very little that you have stated it does look like you should go with the gt2871r IMO!

good luck and happy searching

you got some good responses and some stupid ones.. can you tell which ones are the good ones?
my pick. would be HKS 2835, if you can afford, or greddy TD06, if you cant afford then get 30R.
like steve said. what size injectors do you have?
tunning?

GT2871R .86 A/R if you want more response and not as much up top .63AR.

also.. GT2876R .63A/R should spool fast and have good high end.

All the turbos I listed can get you to 400whp, if the rest of your setup is good.

huh???

I also didnt mention. All of those turbos should be bolt in for what you have. and if you really want to waste money, you can get a 3071R with a T2 flange. IMO its a waste, you can do just as good with a 287XR turbo, and 95% of people are not going to need the power it could provide(if it was a T3 flange)

You should also paint your car red, get Panasport G7C5C2s, run Instant Gentleman aero, and install a Pioneer head unit.

Do your own research, make your own decisions.

It helps to establish goals before determining what tools you'll need to meet those goals.
