Just today I noticed that my steering wheel is making a squeeking noise. When I'm am turning left on the first rotation (From 12 to 9 O'Clock) it makes a squeeking noise. It sounds like it is coming from behind the wheel, but I am unsure.

I read on an online article that it may be a loose steering column bolt, or the connection/bolt from the column to the wheel is dry.

What else could be the problem, and how can this be fixed?
Please help....

Sounds like the little electrical contact "post" that connects the horn disk to the horn has lost its grease.  When you turn the wheel, that post slides along the disk.  When mine started squeaking, I just took the wheel off, cleaned all the grime and old grease off the post and the disk, and re-applied some electrical grease on both...I put the wheel back on and all was quiet.

Not a pretty project; even if u have a wheel w/ out an airbag it's hairy.

You pretty much have to follow the Chilton's until you get to the horn switch (big metal sheet). Once u get there take a look at the plate and you'll see how it twists off (it's hard to explain).

If you have an airbag DO NOT REMOVE YOUR WHEEL, you could get seriously hurt if the bag deploys.

It would be much easier to just get a can of wd-40, disconnect the battery (so u don't short the wheel) and push the little straw between the wheel and the body of the column; then shoot.

You do have bearings in there and they might be the culprit also so take the column apart and do those if the above fails to solve the problem.

For anyone out there, who might have this problem follow the idea of using WD-40 or lubricant. IT WORKS! haha...except I used Valvoline Lubricant.

I took off my steering wheel cover (leather thing), and applied the lubricant to the joint between the wheel and the hub.

Remember for safety, if you have an airbag. DO NOT take off your wheel carelessly. Care is needed so you don't get hurt.
