I just bought a 240 hatch and unfortunately it the stock spoiler. The ONLY problem with the car was that it had a rust and a 2" hole under the stock spoiler. I got a good price for the car seeing as everything else is near perfect.

I was just wondering if anyone knows if its better to just replace the whole hatch cover or to try and do some careful sanding, lots of bondo, and a big wangan spoiler to cover it up. I wanna get this done soon cause it starting to rain around here.

And how much will fixing this cost?

There used to be a post on how to get rid of rust. Try searching. Might be hard to find though. :/ From what I remember, you would do what you thought. Sand it down, and there is a way to make sure rust doesn't come back (I believe), then prime it then paint it.

Someone will have a better informative answer for you.
