Got state reffed!! Need KA24e!!

Well it happened and got a freaking state ref ticket, people that got this before know how it feels and it sucks real bad. So my car is a 89 and i need the single cam beast to take to the ref. A complete engine with wiring and ecu would be greatly appreciated. Also a tranny wouldnt hurt or a bell housing so i can switch from the SR. Well, let me know guys, i have 2 months. Thanks.

It would be easier, and just as legal to swap in a KA24DE.

ReallY? from what i read you have to have the same engine that came with the car which is the single cam. Hmmm i'm not sure anymore and KA24e's are cheaper. But if someone has a nice twin cam with all the emissions stuff i would be happy to pick it up. Thanks.

It's legal to put an engine from a newer car in as well.

Not to mention the PS lines and stuff from KA24DE are the same as SR20DET IIRC.

Does anyone know if the state ref will care if the powersteering is looped and not hooked up? Also still looking for a complete engine both twin and single cam. I might just go ahead and buy a complete 1989 chassi for cheap for spare parts. It has everything i need to swap out so yeah. Main question is if the state ref will care that your powersteering is looped. Thanks

Powersteering doesn't affect emissions, so I don't see why they would.

You really should call up the ref station you're going to and ask them these questions instead of having people that don't know what they're talking about tell you.

I would buy it if you were selling it for like 800? i've a real beat up one i'm gonna buy, but it has a motor. And a state ref ticket is something us californians dont really like, especially when we have an SR.

I have a single cam you can have for $75 plus I have a cherry picker to help you load it. No trans., just engine. Complete except I've been told it needs a new distributor. Has anywhere from 115k-125k miles on it, but I really don't know it's history. I'm in SoCal though.

I have 2 single cams. One missing a alternator. You can come pick one up if you like. Shot me a PM if you still need one

But like others have said, if you can get a KA24DE might as well get that!
