Hey, I know what you're going to say right now "REPLACE IT!" The trouble is, I hate all the aftermarket stereos and I'm not a huge audiophile.. I love the appearance and sound of the OEM unit..
With that being said, I have a 97 LE with tape / CD double din head unit. The problem I'm having is that the display likes to tweak out on my at times, sometimes the LED that makes up the bottom right hand part of the letter "D" likes to shut off then turn back on, but sometimes the whole g'#### display screws up and randomly lights LEDs... It's weird, cause I can adjust my dimmer (when lights are on) and it kinda fixes it.. sometimes I have no problems at all... Anyone have ANY idea what is causing this? Loose connection? I dunno.. thing is plugged in solidly, and sounds great still... Just that bothers me... Also... is repair out of the question? Anyplace I can send that bitch to be fixed? If so, how much (roughly.. not "too much to worry about" just like.. a price) =) Thanks for any and all input!!! -Rob |

Yeah... but.. I like the look of my current deck, and I don't want to change from that.. I doan like that in dash CD changer, and I don't want two single din components. =) I'm kinda anal bout that I guess. . but I think it looks like crap hehe. .
Also... isn't my amp built into that bitch? I doan wanna buy an amp... I have no other amps. hehe -Rob |

I believe the amp in the 97-98's are in the same place as the 95-96's---under the rear panel in the rear windshield. If you want to make sure, open your trunk and look at the bottom of the panel in the middle--underneath where your speakers are mounted.
If you are needing a new amp, I have one that came out of a 96 that works perfect that I'll sell to you really cheap. (Edited by 96SEChick at 1:45 am on Nov. 24, 2001) |

Thank u all for the input. . I greatly appreciate it. .
I love nakamichi stuff, but is it double din? I know. . I know. . but I want double din =) The stock amps aren't under the rear deck, which is the reason I'm thinking it's built into the actual head unit. Sounds crazy, but they're not in the same spot as Chris' (nismo270r) 96 240 SE=) Might take u up on that offer Lauren =) -Rob |
