From what I know, they're just as small as the OEM SMIC for the SR20. Starion ICs are FMs and are fairly cheap. You should consider one of those.

the stock smic on the DSM is almost the same size as the stock SR20 smic. They flow fine, but don't have the ability to cool very well since they have such small surface area. I am using 2 of them welded together with my own end caps and my buddy is is using 3 of them welded together on his MKIII. He is running 16psi and 400rwhp, so I guess they are good. the main advantage of a fmic is that it is mounted with more direct airflow, so it can cool better, not to mention that they are usually larger and have more channels for the charge air to flow through which results in less pressure drop. Also, there is no reason for us not to run a fmic since the turbo is on the opposite side of the engine then the exhaust.

Yea... it's ok, but not very smart financially.
Also.. whatever you do, DO NOT use a MK III supra intercooler. They suck. 60% efficiency and 3psi pressure drop at 7.3psi.
Sorry... response brought up due to someone mentioning supras in general.

i think the best thing to do, is just wait and get a FMIC, unless you are staying stock. buying SMIC from other cars arent worth the trouble IMHO

yeah guys you know... im just gonna buy a stock DSM SMIC and use it for a while. i know that a FMIC is the good deal but for now when i have no ends, and i really want to use the motor, i think that the SMIC is good- for now.

on another note.... i've seen some skylines that used SMICs and FMIC together. withouth weilding, could i use 2 SMICs and how effective would this be? holla

mixedwell

ps- about how much PSI would a SMIC be good foor? 10 psi?

there isn't an amount of boost that an intercooler is good for. It's the turbo that determines how much boost is good for it. Any intercooler will work with 10psi, some just might cool the air more then others, but both work just fine.

I got a crazy idea. Why dont you just get the SMIC for the sr20?
There are a few on a couple of forums and one on ebay right now.

Sorry about that, i didnt realize i was still a newbie. ****!!!
