Z U L8R's 280z RB25DET *Mod list* / goodbye tribute

Sold the car to a close friend of mine. Here is the list of the mods it had, in case someone has similar goals in mind or u were just curious to wtf i had done to it.

I believe i was lifting the head cause hadn't yet retorqued the arp head studs, hence the dip around 5200rpm, but mainly Turbo Dave tuned me for 20psi on 93 octane (pump gas) and i put 100 octane in it, cranked it to 22psi then strapped it to the dyno for the 441 run to see what the air fuels were at 22psi, i wasn't tuned for 100octane nor 22 psi, here's a cleaner graph from an actual tune and not a dyno queen peak power graph after i swapped the rear end from a 3.9 to a 3.54

pink was 20psi pump gas with the 3.9 rear end old tune
red was 14psi "low boost" with the 3.54 rear end new tune
blue was 20psi pump gas with the 3.54 rear end new tune

you can see low boost holds the torque true all the way to redline
but 20psi at 6k rpm the turbo runs out of steam. .63 a/r is the smallest version of the gt30/76r , if i went to the .8X or the 1.X (bigger housing) it'd be a little laggier but it would support it all the way to redline. overall the 30r is a kick ass turbo if you want 400 or a little more.

*SUSPENSION*
energy suspension complete bushing kit
toyota 4x4 4 piston front calipers

*RIMS*
Riken 14x7's with bfg t/a 245/60/14's in the rear fronts are 215's

*INTERNALS*
Commetic Metal HG
ARP Head Studs

(that's it for these dyno's, first motor lasted 7 months, timing belt idler pulley locked up, shredded timing belt = bent 19 valves, dropped new motor in /w hg & studs, lasted a month, was at the drag strip and drove it home with uber blow by.the plastic vacuum T to the fpr/profec cracked so it under fueled & over-boosted aka leaned out the motor and fried the piston/rings. after that i did wiseco 8.5:1 pistons +acl bearings + new oe oil pump, lasted a couple months then threw a rod on the dyno cause the stock rod bolt snapped...worst thing was i paid for pistons, rods, bearings, & machine work, and got everything but the rods, but i put it back together instead of bitched about it so...that's on me)

*MODS*
GReddy intake manifold
GReddy timing belt
GReddy Profec
Walboro 255lph inline fuel pump
Q45 Throttle body
Z32 MAF (blow through)
Z32 n/a 5 speed transmission
OS Geiken Super Single 6 puck unsprung clutch & flywheel combo
Ebay bar & plate fmic 25" x 11.5" x 3" core (27.5" from tip to tip)
Apexi Power FC
DeutcheWerk 550cc side fed injectors
Precision GT30/76R .63 a/r hot side, .60 a/r compressor side
XS Power top mount exhaust manifold (had to angle the turbo flange away from the valve cover a little so the compressor housing could clear it)
Tial 38mm external wastegate (9-13lb spring)
AFCO aluminum racing radiator
N1 water pump
Gizmo phenolic intake manifold gasket
BCPR7ES @ .028 or BKR7E @ .028 gap
Buick Grand National Ignition coil pack
MSD 8.5mm Wires (if u buy the v8 kit they're longer than the v6 kit)
Blitz Bov
Magnaflow 3" muffler

*THE MEN BEHIND THE SCENES AND SPECIAL THANKS TO*

Wouldn't have done it without these guys

motor mounts by Joey Dacus @ Landrum Manufacturing

Intercooler pipe, exhaust, transmission mount & other various fabrications done by Turbo Dave @ TDF fabrication/mainstream

Tuned by Turbo Dave

Basically I'm not the best welder/fabricator so i had those fine fellas handle that for me. Everything else I did myself. My specialties are engine diagnostics and Wiring.

thanks also to all the guys at Mainstream Performance, Top Hat Performance, Lethal Injection and everyone else for their help and support.

*TMI*
I drove that 280z for about 2 years with the stock L28E around, then finally rb20'd it. the rb20 was ok for a couple months and i had this rb25 waiting and waiting and waiting for the 240z to be finished but it didn't, so i said f@#^ it and put it in the 280. Got a lot of kills with the Z.....

Basically I was getting the drivetrain situated in the 280z so once the body work was finished on my 71 240z, i would have a complete package. the 240z has all the suspension stuff already on it and bubble widebody fender flares molded into it. at this stage in it's 3 years in my possession. it's all in primer, rust free, with the flares, a molded in whale tail and beefier frame rails. the 240z should weigh in around 2300lb whereas the 280z was 2600lb. I plan on going 2j in the 240z because i want 600rwhp RELIABLY and 600 ain't gonna hurt a 2j.

here's some links to some vids i've made with the 280z

here's a 90mph 4th gear pull when it was 305rwhp@15psi on the ebay t3/t4
http://youtube.com/watch?v=fDMKovyAAWo&feature=related

here's giving a 436hp supercharged foxbody stang a car length head start, the Z had 391hp at the time
http://youtube.com/watch?v=xGcbAOLDo4o&feature=related

here's my very first time at a drag strip with it

i just like the way it sounds in this one, i was trying to get out of first gear as fast as possible so i wouldn't spin....lol@helluva trap speed for the weaksauce E.T.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=kjE70Cd6_Sg&feature=related

here's vs my friend chad with a 400hp srt4 (gtk500)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=NxjeREchpQU&feature=related

http://youtube.com/watch?v=X9JAj3DY6E8
the vid says gt30/71r but it was really a gt30/76r. i didn't notice that till later but too late. lol@ the music, it was an inside joke. that was on pep boys s-rated 245/60/14's with a 3.9 open diff...2.1 60' ftl >_< got traction?

then i got tired of the yellow and primer so i primed the whole thing
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ctxV2CbYNg0&feature=related
o3 zo6 (470rwhp) and for the record that evo ran 11.6's i think it was round 380rwhp

sorry for the novel, thanks for reading it all hehe
take care,
Dave

this is also my closure / good bye.....because i'll miss the 280

Now I begin my GT35R KA-T 72 Datsun 510. I would like a 9 second pass @@

the Z was fast but the 510 is fun as hell too. it was time to get out of debt and start a new project pretty much. my friend who's getting the Z knows who will have the faster datsun by next year jp jp. i have some other vids if yall want me to post em up. i just need to upload em. one is a 500rwhp 2007 z06 (i/e/h/tune), a gt35r s2000 (460rwhp) and a 500+hp c5 z06, then i have another of a 490hp s14 /w rb26, a 590hp c5 z06 /w spray and a 600hp c6 z06 /w spray. i'll try to get em up in a timely manner.

thx again for the compliments. we had good times in "betsy"

here's a vid we made, the vengeance c5 z06 is the red one, lankhoss is the 2007 c6 z06 who is the camera car. on the c6 z06 it says 505hp but that's not to the wheels. stock they put around 430 to the wheels. Lankhoss has intake, headers, exhaust, and a tune....i wish those bpu's would give us 70rwhp lol, must be nice.

that s2k is pretty sick. he said it was stock internals with just headgasket and arp head studs. at 22psi he made 460rwhp which is what i believe he was running. he was pouring 118 in the gas tank lol.

my first run with lankhoss i was at 17psi. which he pulled me up top so i went to 18psi, still he caught back up 40-120 (z06 only has to shift from 2nd to 3rd lol), last run i was at 20psi, but it was breaking up so i had to let out, hence y u see my brake lights. good bunch of guys. we did that all in mexico on a giant treadmill of course =] here ya go

thx guys =]

I didn't HAVE to persay lol but now i took care of one big debt, got 6k so far in the 510, a clean auto s14 /w ac that i daily, a dohc s13 5 spd f/s, a ninja ex500 i'll probably end up giving to my girlfriend, and some cash in my pocket. someone tell me not to get this cbr 929 later this week lol
2300 miles, $5200 + arai helmet and joe rocket jacket...kinda hard to pass up considering i paid 6200 for my 2001 ZX7R (ninja 750) with 13k on the clock. i miss wheelies >_< and the weather is great!

http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fusea...deoid=20025260

just cruisin at about 70mph, camera car is kswann's gt28/71 sr20 s13.

http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fusea...deoid=20025680

first run i didn't hear the honk so i was basically filming zo-sick (590hp + spray c5 z06 red) and 198plus (blue c6 z06 600rwhp /w spray) do an all motor run.

second run was me vs zo-sick which he was spraying and got me. frickin gearing on vettes rules up top.

third run was me vs ivansnow's rb26 s14 /w twin hks 25/40's + cams (491rwhp) from a third gear roll cause he couldn't get traction from a second gear pull, which u see later hehe. he pulled me slowly, then i had to let off and get over a lane...

fourth run is from 198plus's cockpit (cool ass old man) vs zo-sick, both on spray lol , zo-sick = pwnt in that one

last run me and ivansnow went at it from a second gear roll.

rear coil overs & griffin radiator + fan/shroud on the way for 510

UPDATE ON THE 510

got the whole s13 rear subframe in the 510 with a 2" mini tub + z32 TT 3.6 r260 vlsd. the rear seats have been modified to fit back in place like nothing happened =]

that inline walboro 255 is going in the trash

ground control coil overs on the front with toyota 4 piston calipers

16 gallon fuel cell with sending unit + aeromotive eliminator fuel pump

z32 5 speed tranny /w custom front bellhousing to bolt up to the KA (projectrsdm, thanks for the z32 tranny, he's a great seller by the way LOL)

gsxr1000 individual throttle bodies (custom KA plenum in progress)

i have a polished b210 brake booster and currently using a 280zx brake master cylinder with a summit proportioning valve.

i had wilwood 4 pot rear calipers on the 510's rear but now i can upgrade the s13 rear to 5 lug and bigger breaks + s13 coil overs and all the fancy shmancy adjustable suspension crap.

the rust looks worse than it is, but here's the diff mount in progress =]

this is before the inner rear fender wells were moved for the mini tub

i'm excited, i really like the precision 62mm turbo with the billet aluminum wheel. spools up 100rpm later than the 61mm gt35r but will make 680AWHP on an evo therefore capable of supporting 600hp easily on a dohc KA24DE in a rear wheel drive car with as little lag as possible =]

I also have an aem ems for the ka at the shop.

here's a vid of the 510 on stock ka before she underwent surgery
L33T510 VID- Video

my widebody 71 240z has underwent more body work and is getting closer to seeing it's LSX motor + turbo. however i want the 510 done before the 240z. i'll post some pics of the Z when i get time to take some.

take care,

Dave @ Lethal Injection Motorsports
