Coolent Leak. Does bad water pump throw a code?
I have a coolent leak right under the middle of the engine. I hope it's just a bad hose, but if not it is probably a bad water pump. So does a bad water pump throw any codes to flash the check engine light? If it does then I know it just a hose.

the only thing in the coolant system with a sensor that goes to the ECU is the temp sensor. if it's malfunctioning, your ECU will throw a code....but it does *not* throw a code if you overheat (seeing as how the damage should be obvious).
it also does not throw a code if you have a leak. check the hoses and clamps. Eric

I just got back from looking under the car to see if I could see anything and the only thing I can see is it's dripping from where the belt is. I could see anything other than that. I didn't see any hoses or anything around it. anythoughts?

I just replaced my water pump it was leaking from the top and bottom. What you are describing sounds what mine was doing when the water pump was leaking. The water pump is not hard to change and my replacement was only 30$

Depending on the condition of the motor, you may spend more time getting the belt and fan out of the way than you do pulling off the pump :P
Fairly easy process, ifyou can find for sure that's where your leak is. Remove the fan (easiest to loosen these bolts a bit before you losen the belt). Remove the water pump belt, pulley is on the power steering unit. Remove the water pump. Clean the mating surface on the block, lay down some liquid gasket on the new pump, and slap it back together. Probably want to drain your coolant before starting :P Oh yeah, if it's a hose. . . then don't do this.

Check the weep hole at the bottom of the water pump. If you have coolant leaking there, it's your water pump. I recommend getting an OEM pump and utilizing Nissan liquid gasket. Order both from courtesyparts.com and get the discount.
