Question is my thermostat frozen?

ok, my car has been sitting for a long ass time. when i drive it it reads normal temp, but the damn thing overheats. could it be a faulty thermostat?

How long? May need to Flush the block, Inspect the thermostat and water pump and replace if needed.

Are you reading the dash temp?

start the motor and let it sit while it gets up to temp but monitor the gauge. If you see it starting to go to the hot side, go feel your upper and lower hoses, if one is substancialy hotter (top) then the other one, or if it is really tight and the other one isnt, then yes your thermostat is stuck closed, or there is a restriction in you cooling system, if both are about the same your problem is else where. also verify that it is even getting that hot, could just be a faulty sensor
