SR Why Does My Sr Sound Like A Subaru?

Hi Everyone, Before I Ask For Help Let Me Give U A Background Of What Happened. This Mornin I Finally Figured Out Why My Car Wouldnt Idle, It Was My Electric Fan, It Drained My Battery Cuz I Didn't Have The Thermo Hooked Up.

That Was Solved So I Went For A Little Sunday Drive, Drove Around For Like 6-7 Min Havin A Blast, Then I Go Under Boost 10psi, And All Of A Sudden My Car Turns Into A Wrx ( Not Litteraly). It Started Bucking A Little Bit In The Lower Rpms, Down Shifts Sound Smooth Though. The Idle Sounds Different Also.

I Have A Greddy Interecooler, Hks Ssq Bov, Stock T25, Turbo Xs Manual Boost Controller, Koyo Radiator, Silicone Hoses, Permacool 15" Fan, Sr20det Blacktop, Finished The Swap On The 28 Mar 08. Tryna Give As Much Info As Possible

If Anyone Knows Whats Wrong Please Help.

if it sounds like a sub and surges...you probably have an exhaust side gasket that is blown...check the gaskets around the exhaust manifold, downpipe and the turbo...

Reminds me of the time my ae86 16v was running on 3 cylinders. Sounded like a vq with some crazy cams running at like 400 rpm.

GL man.

Just sounds like you blew your piping off.

Have you already checked all your couplers for leaks?

Wasn't there a thread JUST like this floating around recently?

Disconnect the coil packs ,1 at a time. If there is no change, that's the cylinder. You need to find out if it's a spark or a fuel problem!

If it's a gasket you'll be able to feel the air leak at idle. I have a leak right now and i don't have a rough idle or any problems other that i don't boost my full potential. I agree with cotbu....might be fuel or spark.

you can get a noid light, check that injector is getting pulse. check that coil is getting power. have you removed that spark plug? see what it looks like..hell check compression on that cylinder while you're at it. try to eliminate spark, fuel, compression....it'll lead you in the right way. either electrical problem or worse.

Noid Lites are the fastest, easiest, most economical way to check electronic fuel injection signals(got that def. off goggle hehe). Did you check your spark plugs and how do they looked? check all your wires, and check your fan wiring as well. I had the same problem as you before 1 of my wire got tap wrong and it burnt 1 of my coils bad my car was running on like 2 cylinder. Well i hope that helps

Sounds like I am going threw almost exactly the same problem but mine is cylinder 3! its pissing me off too! I am finding that when I boost I hear a click and then it happens (wrx). so I pull the plug and it has no gap, so its not firing. plus the plug is pitted up. freakin wierd. ppl say it could be a detonation problem and I am running to lean. I am running stock fuel pump at what I think is stock boost.

I pulled everything apart and found that the flap connected to the actuator would stick open every once in while from hitting the elbow (dump) pipe. The turbo and elbow are both stock. I have no idea if this has anything to do with it or not so if anyone has any ideas, please post em.

I am running a front mount with hks ssq as well. FYI

Thanks and hope this helps a bit

-Brett
