Is there a gasket here? I pulled my motor and found a metal piece that attaches to the engine and covers a big hole in the engine->tranny connection. My question is once i take this off, can i reuse it or should i get a new one?

That piece of metal should just be the dustcover. You don't need to get new ones.. just replace it when you put everything back together.

The dustcover shouldn't need to be replaced unless it's badly damaged. You don't need an air or liquid tight seal.

Dunno if I was clear or not. I said "you don't need a new one, just replace (put it back in) it when..."
That's what I meant... just clearing up confusion before it starts.
