KA Strength of s14 KA transmission

I think I saw something in a post somewhere one time, I tried to search for it just now but couldn't find anything. Anyways, how much power can the S14 KA transmission support? I heard it can handle quite a bit of torque.

About a year ago Don Nimi said that it was good to 400rwhp and could take 450rwhp, but not driven hard (launches, ect).
So far that has held up to be about right. People flirting with 350+rwhp haven't bitched about trannies, and drag racers with over 400rwhp have blown them.

I have eaten up a few trannies. Mostly because i beat the **** out of them and replacements can be had for $150. Then again most of my trannies either came with a 3 pucked clutch (read: not pampered) or have been sitting out in the rain for a year or so.

Get a good tranny to begin with and take care of it and it should last. If you bust it, big deal--get another one spend $150 and few hours putting it in.

Hey Aubrey, where are you getting your trannies from for $150? Junk Yard? Rebuilt from a shop?
