Help removing Z32 upright bushings

So I'm in the process of removing my aluminum Z32 upright bushings in order to put in new ones. I know their pressed in and so I tried the bolt and socket trick but some won't put out with that method. Does anyone have any other ideas?

I circled them in red to show which ones I'm taking about.

drill thru the rubber with a tiny drill bit.
then push / press out the inner sleeve.
cut thru the remaining outer sleeve with a hacksaw, being careful to avoid cutting the aluminum, if you do (and you will) just sand the area smooth.

easy peasy.

18MM and 32MM sockets on either end, in a vice. Three seconds.

I tried putting in a socket like that and those stupid bushings are JAMMED in there. I ended up using a breaking bar on my vice to turn it and it bent the handle on the vice. And I still didn't get it out.

naw you cant just press them, some of them you can but these rubber stupid ones you gotta hole saw the rubber out of it, cut the metal sleeve with a saw(this takes the pressure off the metal sleeve) then you can hit it out with a hammer and a socket. I had to do this when i put in the energy bushings in my car.

Some of them have a clip that goes around the back - if you take that out, you can just press em (in my experience). I'd have to see 'em to be sure, but I had J30 RLCA's on my S14 when I picked it up, and dealt with all that shit.

Anyway, I've got a drill/sawzall/press/etc - everything except a lathe. Hit me up if you need a hand, or don't

I'll let you know for sure, but I have a sawzall as well and my dad says he has an arbon press somewhere around my house. I'll probably go at it tomorrow, if I get no where, I'll PM you. Thanks

You're crazy too, I've pressed out over a dozen sets of bushings from Z32 uprights. They're easier since the steel outer shell doesn't seize to the aluminum. The S13/S14 uprights being steel are more work since the steel will corrode and seize, but these are simple. I've never had to use anything but sockets.

I pressed mine out no problems. You can even do it with a 6" Harbor Freight c-clamp until the thing splits in two pieces(with only my hand on the 4" bar.. haha)

There is no clip on them.

Well I was finally able to get them out thanks to the methods suggested. However, I have called around, and search the internet for those bushings. Apparently according to phase2 and FRsport, Energy Suspension doesn't sell those pieces separately. Phase2 told me they could get some through tomei or nismo but it would take more then a month to get in, and I don't really want to wait that long. Also, that it would be pricey through tomei. So does anyone know where I can get these bushings?

I've included a pic of the bushings just to make myself clear of which ones I'm talking about.

Buy the rear kit for the S13 or Z32, use what you need, then sell the extras. Or, press them into your old uprights and sell them already done. Either way someone will want them and you'll have the extras to do the Aarms too. I did that with my set, sold the extras to a friend along with some uprights to clean up and powdercoat, made the money right back. People love to do bushings if they've got extra parts to work with off the car.

Absolutely true. Buy the full rear kit.

Also - Charles (from Powertrix) was able to get me a single set of Energy toe bushings for my rear Z32 arms (shipped them the same day I called him, too!), was about $15 I believe. He probably just took them out of an Energy kit... highly recommended.

I tried contacting him but no reply. However I was able to source them out from someone selling theirs, hopefully I can get them by this week and I'll probably PM you to press them in.

Man those look alot like some left over energy suspension busings I have from my Sentra since I never put the full kit on before I got rid of the car, if you could measure them, I can hook you up....

I did all the bushings on those z32 uprights... I burned the rubber out with a propane torch and used a sawzall to get the sleeve out.

Lubed em up and they slid right in with a press

Rear s14 ES upright kit will have all the bushings needed EXCEPT for the strut/coilover mount bushing...

You have to purchase that bushing through nismo if you want a stiffer one.

Its $70 for both shock mount bushings

Does the Z32 ES kit come with the shock mount bushing?

If you have the Z32 uprights on an S13, will the ES Z32 rear bushing work for all of the other bushings?

Well someone told me the part number for the bushings through ES. So I bought them on summit racing. Incase anyone needs them. I ordered them today, so I'm hoping I'll have them in this week. But if anything I'll see how they work out. I ordered the S13 one obviously lol.

To answer your question Spig, no it does not include the shock mount bushing. That piece alone is pretty pricey. I believe I was quoted at 50$ per bushing.
