dousan, why do you have so much camber for drifting, what does it do for you?

KA is completely stock (ka24de)
tires are FM901 all around
the camber makes drifts more stable and grip well, espeically at higher speeds. i like how it feels a lot. others might not but for me i love it car is so easy to control at higher speeds. solid. rock solid and reponds how i like.

as far as tire wear, after a day drifting on FM901s the inside (about 3/4 of tire) is wore inside. so i just flip it for the next time and bring another set of tires and im fine FM901s take a beating.

Camber in rear allows for smaller contact patch (if set up properly with tire choice...) and in front it allows for you to get FULL contact patch when the car is under load (outside tire). Its all about controlling the car as it gets to the limit!

I was wondering if you tried more or less and found a spot you like or whatever. my experience in racing, we always used a tire pyrometer to measure temps and tried to keep them the same across the tread. Would you say that your temps are pretty constant too? also, I saw that you like to run pretty narrow tires on wider wheels, is that so you get less flex from the tires. I have noticed that when sideways on dry pavement, as the car goes through center there's a little jerk, is this reduced by narrow tires and/or camber

Or beyond the limit, I consider drifting to be beyond the limit, which is why it's so much fun. The rear tires are sliding now, kinetic friction instead of static friction.

Thats one way to consider it. I prefer to think that it is all about control. You are controlling a slide, not sliding out of control. Believe it or not, drifting is all about grip. You need MORE lateral inertia than you tire's forward grip to keep the slide, but hte less grip you have, the more you rotate. The more grip you have the faster you go. In the front, you always want to have grip to spare, so you can dictate when, if anytime, you can forego that front grip on purpose (ie locking up the fronts at or before an apex). Blah blah blah, i could go on for days. [Dorifto, shut up already, they don't care]

my expirience, i've tried crappy tires and little to no camber. tried more camber and fooled around

basically im a lazy guy. haha..
so i went all out and went -4. i am going -3 next time and try that. but for my skill level (beginner) i set my car up like this. i enjoy

as far as temperature, ive never really fooled with it. i go to the track, drift balls out (or as best i can) and learn from there. im still new at all this car stuff so learnig a lot. heh...

i just found this setup works best for me. when i start going faster (sooon-3rd gear drifts) then ill have to change setups again. same goes if i get more power...constant change. anyways, works for me and ive never been more pleased with my car then i am right now

oh for the jerking stuff, nah my car doesnt jerk. im able to keep it SMOOOOOOTH (everyone tells me they are smooth-jspec, dorifto, ny_jee, etc) but i am not CRAZY enough (must start...earlier! ) so my drifts are smooth, no jerking. oh i always drift on dry pavement. i dont fool around in the rain/wet surfaces. i like the screaming tires.

as far as stretching, i guess im "slightly" stretched. 205/55/15 on a 7.5 inch wheel width. not super stretched but sidewall is SLIGHTLY (very slightly) pulled.


edit: I always use DUnlop FM901s on all 4 wheels. feels bset for my level and my car's setup.
