Question The pre-wired 240???

First off I have a base level 92 FB... I'm hoping to wire my fog lights up so that they come on whenever the car is running. So I don't have to turn them on manually, and then remember to turn them off. (I've walked away from my car w/them on WAAAY too many times.)

I'd like to just wire them into the day time running ciruit. But I was curious if everything was there that I needed. I noticed that there was a spot for DTL in the fuse block, but I didn't know if there was already a harness out in the engine bay/bumper for the stock Day lights that came on Canadian 240s...(maybe you guys that have added those lights could help me out here)

...also, what are the day running lights called in the FSM? If I have to wire straight to my fuse block(if there's no harness already outside the firewall) I need to know what wire. And quite frankly I was getting abit confuse by the diff. light names in the FSM

Another one of the glorys of having a base model means I don't have power locks or windows. I've heard rumors that the wiring is already in the doors, I just need to get the hardware. I was just wanting to make sure that this was true b4 I tackled up grading to power equitment...

Any info you guys can throw my way would be great.

Can't help ya much but I'll try.

Lights:

Better safe than sorry, just wire em up to a circut that turns on when you turn the car on. Should be pretty easy to find.

I would guess that the canadian cars have no extra wiring just a relay to keep the lights on. Or wired differently. It wouldn't make sense any other way.

Power locks:
The only way to make absolutly sure would be to take your door off and look

For the foglights:

Can you turn them on with a switch anytime the car is on? If so, why not just cut the switch out and connect the two wires that were on either side, then there would be a complete circuit everytime the car is on and it would be easy.

Just trying to make it easy

EDIT: oops, just reread your post, if they stay on when you walk away from your car they must be on constant power rather than ignition power. Just rewire it into something that is only on when your key is on and that should fix your prob.

I don't remember how they're referred to in my FSM, but on my Canadian S14, the daytime running lights are set up to turn on when the e-brake is released, then stay on until the ignition is turned off. They also go out any time the headlights are turned on.

Not sure if that's any use to you, but there it is...

thx for the info everyone....

The way my fogs worked b4 is that I had to turn them on w/a remote. So control box was wired straight from the battery. So I couldn't just wire around the switch, or yeah...they would never turn off. Anyways I just got done wiring them of a from the relay box on pass. side of engine. Just pulled out the meter and found a circuit that was only on in 'run'.

If any1 knows about the wiring in the doors though I would appriciate it.
