TURBO FINALLY IN!.. but small problem...

ok my turbo is finally in....after 3 days of constant rootbeers and other good stuff, its in...
i finally started up the car today... it idled really good... but it idled pretty high... i still have to retard my timing...(is that the way to lower idle?)

ok my problem is that after the car gets started, it idles good.. but give or take a couple of minutes after that, it starts to idle horribly... and eventually die...i took it around the block to see what happens, and it stalls when i come to stop.. not all the time, but half the time i stop...

im pretty sure i have everything hooked up right..i dont know what the problem is, im thinking because i did not run a fitting to my hotpipe for the wastegate, and instead T'ed off vaccum..but someone told me that i could do it.. maybe its not the right vaccum.... what could other possible problems be???
also my car spits out really ****e smoke from exhaust... and everyonce in a while from the bottom of my car (engine area)...
i have a huge power loss and what seems wierd is i hooked up my boost guage (temporarily) just to see if its reading any boost, and it sez 0 psi... maybe i hooked stuff up wrong...
can anyone help me by telling me what needs to get hooked up where and what doesnt need to be hooked up...
if you guys can respond with previous post that were already made (i tried searching by the way) or try to explain to me please

*ryan

Edit: oh yah my setup (if you need to know) is as follows:

KKK's turbo
Vortech FMU
JGS Manifold
Spearco FMIC
Apexi twin chamber BOV
Tial 35mm .3 bar wastegate
custom IC piping
this is all on stock internals..
and i have no MBC so im stuck at 4.35(or about there) psi..

I second that. Do you have a friend who can help you with your engine? Cuz I predict that you're going to need it. I'm not trying to be an ass or anything and please don't take that as a put-down. I just think that you could end up breaking something and if you have someone that's more experienced to help you and show you the ropes it could be helpful. Then you can do it yourself the next time.

You dont T off a vacuum line for the wastegate, you put it in the cold pipe, after the pressure drop across the intercooler. It *might* work from the manifold, but I wouldn't do it that way.
You can't retard the timing from the idle. You can only retard the timing from a JWT ecu or standalone. You might be able to get away with turning the distributor cap, but I think the ECU will adjust for it, and fix itself.
Black smoke means that you've hooked up a vacuum line up wrong. Check them all again.
Finally, Pics help when you need troubleshooting.

I don't know if jeff understood you but if you just want to lower your idle on the KA you have to turn a screw located near the intake manifold. Now don't go turning every screw you find after reading this because there might be more to it than just turning a screw. By the way, the hot pipe is from the turbo to the intercooler, because the air is still hot. The cold pipe is from the intercooler to the throttlebody, because the air is then cooled from the intercooler.

Yeah it'll work. It'll also suposdly "help" against boost drop off since the WG is reading actual boost, including pressure losses across the intake piping/ intercooler. I think the Jeff from MA with a KAt runs his WG line from the manifold.

Adjusting the timing by rotating the dist. cap will adjust baseline timing, so yeah, his timing at idle will change. What you can't change is the timing advance/ retard over base across the rev range, unless you have an aftermarket ignition, JWT ECU, or standalone setup.

blue smoke means oil. white smoke is water/ coolant. black smoke is access fuel (rich). Sometimes the colors can be tricky though.
