Swapping My tach issues

Well I finially got my 91 and up cluster to install into my 90 240sx w/ SR. I just tried swapping just the tach out from the 91 and up cluster and put in my 90 cluster. Plugged everything in and no RPM's and now my gas light is on and the needle goes completely to the top. So can anyone help me out. Did I do something wrong? I was told just to swap the tachs out and that's what I did. Any help would be appreciated.

sounds to me like you plugged it in wrong. one of the plugs (the big one) goes in the middle. but the one to the left and right are both the same size so switch thoes around and your tach should work correctly. . . oh you also have to splice the yellow red wire to make your rpms work

Your talking about the yellow wire with the red stripe? and what do you mean splice it?

Also I did end up reversing the black plug on the gas side and the white plug on the temp side. That is fixed Plugged everything in and RPM's are working blipped the throttle and it's working without splicing any wires.

Thank you for the help.

Please quit posting. There is no wiring splicing needed for anything here. remove old tach, install new one. Done.

you might have a bad ECU.

I had the same problem, I tried 2 different SR ecus they were both bad. After I installed my Power fc everything was ok.
