Are those the ebay plastic headlights? Look pretty good. I'm not a huge fan of the hood, but you can't win 'em all.

Motor sounds killer. Think this is mostly the result of the X pipe and twin exhausts? From a quick perusal it seems most of the chevy swappers just do a y pipe to a single 3", but I don't think you can even think about comparing the sound of a 5.7L pushrod engine to a 4.5L DOHC.

I like the idea of painting the IM like a spider. That needs to happen, if only in jest.

DOHC as in dual over HEAD cam.

2 cams per head = still DOHC.

great to see this thing up and running again! are you going to paint the car yourself? have you thought of running some type of tips on your exhaust? either that or polish out the piping you have there now... maybe even blue them with a torch.

Well made it to the dyno today, did a couple of pulls with a few different tunes courtesy of mazworx.

1st pull base line, headers / exhaust

2nd pull left the vtc till redline no other changes, picked up a few hp up top tq remained the same

3rd pull vtc was stock a few degrees of timing and a little leaner
Big diference in tq below 4000. Best pull of the the night.

So the most power was 283hp 293wtq. I think with a little more fine tuning 300whp 300lbft tq is very achievable, we shall see. Ill have the .drf's tommorow and can over lay the 3 on winpep.

Heres some vids

Got the files and better graphs today, just for fun heres the new motor baseline vs my original setup basiclly 100kmile motor (red) vs 227kmile motor (blue). Much better to start with.

Heres the baseline pull (blue) vs the vtc turned off ( red) made about an 8hp increase up top. This new motor is running a little rich for some reason, dont know if the wideband from the dyno was good though, got to check a few things on the engine.

This is a tune with timing and fuel made the best increases down low almost 40lbft of tq below 4000rpm.

40 ft lbs with a tune is damn impressive! Good work. Was there just a bunch of timing that you were able to throw at it? You don't see that everyday.

Seriously! And they were supposed to be tuned for 91 octane from the factory! That's a great tune then

Love the car, keep it up ~

from what i was told it was a little leaner and 3 degrees, however the motor still is running pretty rich above 4k rpm so we need to go back with more time, im fairly confident above 4k theres still about 15-20whp and probably the same tq.

If you're going to compare it to a domestic engine let it be the 4.6L Ford DOHC cobra engine because they sound just about the same.

gsracer listen man a few years ago a guy pulled 700whp out of a vh45 powered 240z. He went rear mount twin turbo setup and if i'm not mistaken the bottom end was left stock. Its been awhile since i looked up everything on the car so i can't remember what site i saw it on, but its not hard to find. The vh45 swap into the 240z has been goin on for awhile so you might be able to get some helpful info on makin more power with those motors by doin a search for people who have done that. Also, i know hardly relative as its on a boat, but a speed boat team has reported hp of over 1500 stroking and doing a quad turbo on the vh45. Power is there, just gotta find it.

Hey GSracer, sorry if you've already answered this but what radiator is best to use with this swap? I'm trying to get all of the parts together for my project and I'm almost positive that there no aftermarket radiators made specifically for the Q45/VH.

I'm almost 99% sure it's a 5-speed 300zx twin turbo transmission using the modifed bell housing and adaptor plate made by mazworx.

Edit - after lookin at the pics, a custom would work best, but he used an SR radiator with custom pipes. I'd look at side-tank radiators from Summit if I was going to do this.

Er? Z32 trans is a 5 speed. And that's what he's running.

Agreed on the rad, I would just look at what summit has to offer in a generic cheap crossflow rad. Then just toss on a thermoswitch and whatever fan will fit between the rad and engine. A quick trip to autozone or napa for some hoses that fit with some trimming and you're set. Here's a cool older thread about this http://zilvia.net/f/tech-talk/138254...a24-setup.html

Thought i would update

Finally got my battery cable routed, went thru the subframe, also put a 150 amp breaker in the back just in case.

Got my interior in, also put in the 5 point harness, still need a steering wheel though.

Snapped some pics of the whole car today, wish i could say its done but i still have so much to do...

Time for a rear diffuser?
