the 180sx tail lights are the primo numero uno of tail lights, they are the best. simply put, there is no better light than the 96-98 tail lights.

btw... for those wondering, you CAN paint the outside of your lights and do it the right way. the problem is, most people here are accustomed to shitty "testors" candy paint in a can. NO THANKS.

if you want to do it right, you'll need to have a pro paint them. you'll end up spending more money on lights that simply put, suck and arent worth the time or the hassle of messing with. as for vinyl overlays, i think they're garbage and an utter waste of time. why not tint your windows from the outside? because its stupid, thats why. same reason i think people are dumb for putting overlays on their ROOF, and overlays on their lights... its ALL cheap & ghetto.

I dont think they look bad if done correctly, I would probably go the vinyl route as there is no chance to screw them up and if the vinyl ever gets messed up you can always replace it. I havent seen a set that has a slight smoke tint to them(while still being transparent red), i think that would look good also i havent seen anyone keep the reverse lights, it seems like they always just black out the entire rear section. it would be cool to see how they would look with the reverse lights not blacked out.

In my opinion, "altezza" tails should stay on the altezza.

But, the tinted ones don't look too bad. And we all know the Japanese have funky taste sometimes.

If you're going to build a "clean" car, then they shouldn't be included. If you think they look cool, then put them on your car, but every car I've seen with them I don't consider "clean". If you're going for the "drift-car style" (I guess that means whatever car you saw that had them and you liked it) Then you can get away with them.

They have always been associated with ricers, and that's why I'll always stay away from them, but it all depends on peoples styles.

I remember the thread back in the day when someone asked how to install these, and he got flamed-hard. I remember laughing particularly hard when someone wrote him a step-by-step guide to installation that included "Take the screw driver and shove it through your temple". ROFL.

In fact the branding on all of the lights is actually the company that makes them for everybody.

Fact is true, they all come out of the same factory that stamps their name in the plastic.
Every last set I have seen, DMAX, URAS, ebay, and yes I have seen all of them had the same name stamped in the plastic.

Its still out of the same factory. Basically the company i.e. Uras, Hippo Sleek, Dmax, etc.. give them the particulars to the basic design and the factory makes them. They may look a little better than others but they are still basically cheap ass crap.

You cannot even begin to compare the quality of the build of any of them to Factory Kouki's. Again having held all of them in my hands side by side I can tell you honestly, all except the factory OEM Kouki's are shit quality wise.

Eric, if you priced out a set of new stock tails for your car,they do not come in too far behind the cost of Kouki's. In fact, there is like a $50 difference.

they look great, but its standard.

i would just black out the chrome get an oem kouki center piece and leave the rest alone.

I have some LED tails from ebay and they look sick ass fuck at night.

Of course there is a difference between S13's like mine, and someone that built theirs for daily and looks.
I think alot of arguments get started on here and people dont realize they are building 2 different types of S13's with 2 different goals.
