Sorry for the mis-info I know it comes stock on Type-X models, it is an option out of the factory for non-Type-X models, and I just learned about the optional lip now.

It comes stock on kouki 180's, not Type-X models. There's a difference. You can have a kouki type x. You can have a kouki that's not a type x. You can have a non-kouki that's a type x. Two of the three come with the bumper seen in the picture. As dousan said, Type-X is just a trim, and it's a trim available on the chuki model as well, so just saying "type-x" doesn't denote which years.

Still wrong. You got it right if you were talking about just the bumper, but we are talking about the optional lip that attaches to the kouki bumper that was optional for ALL kouki 180SX.

I'm guessing no more than $1200-1300. Maybe less. I have to dig up the part numbers and crap again.
If you think that price is high, it is. Keep in mind this is PRE-PAINTED OEM Nissan urethane bumper, lip, position lights, and turn signals. |

that particular bumper is knock off aftermarket one-piece. there is no lip on it. you can tell its not the real kouki because of the part that extends on the sides. on the actual kouki bumper theres a small part that goes on the fender, like with the chuki bumper. that one is smooth, indicating its aftermarket.

Ok, I did some poking around. The parts are NOT prepainted (apparently some body parts come painted and others don't). I could probably do $1000 for all the necessary components if there was any volume.
Keep in mind this costs less than 2 aftermarket front bumpers and would last you much longer. |

Except that "Eagle eyes" has been smoking the crack rock again.
That's an OEM lip/bumper combo. You can see the seam between the lip and the bumper in the front. There is also a slight seam on the sides. It's not smooth. |

I think it's more of a JPG compression defect or that it's in the shadows. The line is there. I know it. I feel it. In me bone. I mean me bones. And I care. It matters. I am right. You are wrong. And Aaron will back me up on that because I have his LSD kit in my house.

Ruf where are you getting your prices from?
Anyway I am headin to Japan on the 25th of June because my girl is studying abroad in Yokohama. Her good friend is a head honcho at Nissan, I am going to be driving his S15 when I get there, and I am picking up 2 pairs of 180 tails, one for me, and the other to sale here. I guarantee I can get those fronts less than $400 easy. Well then again, I am going through a source in Nissan......

I go through Nissan Japan. Yes the bumper itself is less than $400. But then add the lip and both sets of lights, account for shipping and customs and you'll be way over.

There's a problem. You can't stuff a bumper into a suitcase like a set of lights (I'm wondering how he's going to get the lower kouki taillight trim here, it's the width of the car). Shipping sucks. Its expensive. Customs sucks. Its expensive and I don't cheat to get out of it. No legitimate business would. Anyone that ever comes to me and complains about Japanese retail pricing and 120Y/$1 exchange rates always gets the same answer from me. "Oh yeah, there's this great website where you can buy all sorts of Japanese parts at those prices. www.continental.com "
If you think you can get this entire front end for <$400 in the US, you're dreaming. Not being bitchy, just telling you the truth. Last edited by ruf; 05-16-2003 at 04:52 PM.. |

True, but here's the sweetest thing. My girlfriend is 1/2 Japanese and 1/2 Irish. She speaks fluent Japanese and her father owns a business over that deals with exporting. I could use his rates, etc. I have already gotten a lot of good things for my last project car which was a 1992 Integra.
I know all about customs etc, I could start a business and me and girl have been contemplating. The prices that people sell your parts out here in the US is outrageous. Good news is, I have a hookup in Nissan, and I have a hookup for exporting. Ohhh and I have a girlfriend that speaks fluent Japanese, hahaha. I will find out more later.
