sohc gauge cluster to dohc

hello i have a 89 240sx with sr20det red top in it i've done some research and people tell me i need to put in a dohc gauge cluster to get my tach to work! i was wondering does the dohc cluster plug right up to tell sohc connecters on the dash or what would i have to do to make it work?!?!?!?!? need help thanks ford.

It is a direct swap. You disassemble the SOHC Cluster and put in the DOHC tach. It all depends on what speed sensor you have in the tranny though too.

One of the two will work though, good luck.

Or swap the entire cluster and subharness.

As for the VSS, they're the same. And the VSS wouldn't have anything to do with the tachometer anyway. Please don't confuse people with bad information.

I know this is an old thread. Can you please tell me how you got your sohc gauge to work with your sr? I bought a dohc cluster, but it turned out to be sohc. Damn liar...
