While i wait for the weather to clear up and some time off ive been double checking my body work. I posted earlier but this is an old tirck where you wet the sanded panel down and you get to see how it looks painted.

actually a real G puts 12 or so women in a dark room...whoever after the money shot is made, the light go on.

That's the color you go with...if the carpet doesn't match the drapes you do a two tone.

Ok well here goes

Woke up this morning and built a spray booth.

Got a fan with a filter to blow in fresh air

Here is the before, it took almost 1.5 hours to tape this car up, i hated it lol...

Gave it a coat of sealer

1st thru 3rd coat of jet black

1st coat of clear

2nd and 3rd coat of clear

Im geussing that is the sealer.. You know that primer is very porose and acts like a sponge.. rain water=bad thing. BUT it looks great! keeps us posted.

So you removed all the molding around the glass? Did you do this yourself? I want to get a shell and paint it this summer, so I was wondering if there is any way to get around taking off the glass entirely. Can one just remove the molding and leave the glass and simply taping that up?

waay too much dryspray. You're either holding the gun too far away, or you're moving too quickly. Also, watch your overlap...its hard to see from the pics but your hood may be sporting some bad tiger stripes. How many coats of clear did you give it?

I saw some guys asking about primer guns, I'm a fan of the GTI primer guns, and I usually use a SATA HVLP 3000 for base/clear (1.3 spray nozzle on average, every paint manufacturer has a tip size they recommend) . Or sometimes a SATA Jet 3000 RP for clear, that gun lays clear on nice and smooth, You just have to be a little bit quicker with your pace when using the RP +clear.

In that case it might not look so bad with clear.

About the spray guns, I'm buying a Devilbiss GFG670 this weekend with the dekup system. At first I was thinking of using a cheap HF gun to lay the primer. I'm not really sure anymore since I dont want to ruin the final finish.
