dont like it what so ever. but i have n choice. my cat was all busted up inside holding up way too much backpressure causing the bolts to loosen and fall on the freeway, next thing you know, i was on open header draggin my exhaust.

but id get a cat. OEM if you can get one. the aftermarket once the muffler shop sells are booty. besides the magnaflow high flow cat.

but yeah oh btw, i have N/A SR20DE.

I'll stop saying it's ok to do i guess I was outnumbered. I really just didn't notice any difference in sound or pick-up soooo I just figured that it was a great alternative to replacing more $$$ parts?
wow, you guys were just made for eachother.

100-200 bucks is a drop in the bucket for a high flow. man up, pusscakes

SERIOUSLY! A decent 240 has probably about $7,000-$10,000 into it and peaple bitch about $100-$200? That doesn't make any sense. If $100-$200 is a lot of money to you you shouldn't be modifying ANY car.

You can get 100$ for a 240 catalytic converter at places that buy them up.

However, I hollowed out my converter, before I was aware I could have gotten money for it. I did not notice any sound difference, and I do not know if it made any power difference, but I do not care about horsepower anyway. What it did do was made my car run a lot cooler, and my floor stopped getting hot. That was nice.

I would probably still be running the hollowed out converter, but one of the bolts on it broke off.

Now I have a 2.5" header going to a 3" test pipe mated to a stock catback, haha.

eBay Motors: Random Technology high flow cat Evolution VIII Turbo (item 270360241230 end time Mar-24-09 18:49:29 PDT)

cant........................... afford................ high.............. flow..............!!!!!

tooo........... much.............. money!!!!!!

im running a NEW random technologies cat which i got for cheap, that was years ago. above is a link on ebay for a used cat that will be fine for anyone running an sr20det. as a note to people that stumble into this thread 3 years ago when the ebay link is dead, the link was for a used 3" random technology cat that was used on an EVO, its even got the flanges.. what more do you need? 75 bucks buy it now.

whoop-dee-doo. sit in an underground parking lot for a few minutes and remind me how fun and cool it is to be w/o a cat.

like i said, things like charcoal canisters and egrs i dont care for.. but cats are necessary in todays world.

Holy cow that's cheap. I got my high-flow cat magnaflow for $86 plus what it cost to get it weld so like $120. That's a great prices for a random technologies cat.

I car actually feel better when I added the cat. Just to note I have an S14 so I added another cat so now I have 2 cats. But the car feel just has good.

I'm pretty sure a 2.5" pipe fits nicely through the factory cat shell.

hey ixfxi, is the random technology cat the same length as stock 240s? I have a stock cat, but am trying to get a 3" one. Any modification to the cat needed for the sr people?

lmao. i had the same thought going through my head. I guess it would bring about the more physical meaning to the process of "gutting".

but to answer your question, no!
