Differential indentification

Have a VLSD diff, confirmed with orange stamp, has 6 bolt axle flanges, and is jdm(as it came in a shipping crate from japan).

What diff is this? Need to buy a kaaz to replace it, its burnt out!

What diff did the PS13 SR20DET come with?

Do you mean the gearing of the diff? I believe it has a 4.36 final drive ratio, also it doesnt matter what diff it is your gonna out a kaaz into it, you can install a kaaz diff into a non lsd pumpkin as well.....

Trying to actually figure out what diff it is, since:

Ca equipped cars came with 5 bolt hubs and a VLSD.

sr20det powered cars came with a open diff and 6 bolt hubs.

The diff in question is a VLSD equipped with 6 bolt hubs, which makes me suspicious that it may be a 96-98 180sx diff with a viscous lsd, but i cant confirm. Aswell, it also has the cooling fins which i assume were only for JDM cars, which confirms its JDM.

So what is a 6 bolt flange, VLSD, JDM diff out of?

well there's the r200diff and the j30 diff that are a triangular 6 bolt with 2 bolts on each point and then there's the gtr diff that has 6 individual bolts. you can google the rest. since there's no pictures i can't help much more than that.

It came out of any VLSD 240sx. USDM 240's used the 6 bolt, 3x2 pattern. My old stock, OEM VLSD had the same 6 bolt pattern.

IIRC J30 diff's are 5x1 for earlier models and 6x1 for newer ones.

JDM or not, I'm pretty sure its just a regular VLSD

Open it up... on the ring gear is a stamped number ration ie 12:47 which is the number of pinion teeth: ring gear teeth. Divide the ring gear teeth by the pinion teeth and there's your drive ratio... ie 47 / 12= 3.916

Since you guys are on the topic of rear ends. Anyone ever swapped a 350z rear end into an s14. I aquired one and from looking at it they appear to almost have the same mounting points. I do know that the axle flanges will have to be changed out and that the axles for the z and the sx are the same. But i would love to park this thing in the back of my car.

i've seen people ask that question before and I am curious about the because of the lower ratio. Its also a R200V or open end R200, I don't know of the case is the same, but I wouldn't doubt if you could swap the guy into a J30 case,

Z33 - MT - R200 - 3.538
Z33 - MT - R200V - 3.538
Z33 - AT - R200V - 3.357

no.

s13 and 180sx CA's came with a vlsd 5 and 6 bolt.
AND
s13 and 180sx SR20s came with vlsd 5 AND 6 bolt

either way you have a vlsd.

and either way you should throw it away and get a real diff

It could be a r180 diff housing its a little smaller than a r200 diff. I had one in my cefiro when i got it. It was from a 180 sx and had 6 bolt axles.
