I'm swapping over the sensors from KA tranny to SR tranny. I have seen people use teflon tape on the tranny senors, but I know teflon should be only used on where there is water not oil. Anything wrong to use RTV on these sensors?

i say its fine. its used to seal oil pans sometimes.

Use the High temp RTV stuff since the tranny gets hot, try not to get too much on the threads.

I always use RTV. It's fine.

Are you supposed to use some kind of sealant on these sensors? Are they prone to leaking without it?

Right now I am refreshing the trans with new driveshaft seal, shifter gasket, trans mount and replacing the trans fluid. If putting sealant on those sensors is a good idea, I may do it.

Um, yes. Please do. They come with a red loctite looking stuff when new, it's a sealant, just like what you see on a new clutch fork pivot. Once the switch is removed most of it comes off. Not sealing them will assure you some good leaks.
