well I gess Im a 22% by applying it this way Usage Note: The words ironic, irony, and ironically are sometimes used of events and circumstances that might better be described as simply “coincidental” or “improbable,” in that they suggest no particular lessons about human vanity or folly. Thus 78 percent of the Usage Panel rejects the use of ironically in the sentence In 1969 Susie moved from Ithaca to California where she met her husband-to-be, who, ironically, also came from upstate New York. Some Panelists noted that this particular usage might be acceptable if Susie had in fact moved to California in order to find a husband, in which case the story could be taken as exemplifying the folly of supposing that we can know what fate has in store for us. By contrast, 73 percent accepted the sentence Ironically, even as the government was fulminating against American policy, American jeans and videocassettes were the hottest items in the stalls of the market, where the incongruity can be seen as an example of human inconsistency.

hey i personally wish it was us up here in the 'north' just think next time Bush decides to ban our beef or raise the terrif on softwood lumber we'll just accidentally pull the plug on the power.
But seriously you know that we're to dependant on each other when power was lost from Nyc to past North Bay (4 or 5 hours north of Toronto) |

"Sucks people are so quick to blame terrorists for every little thing these days, pretty crappy attack if it was. Oh noes we have no A/C or TV for the day, whatever shall we do..."
usually i just lurk around these boards at work but dude... I work in NYC by wall street and it was a lot more serious then lacking A/C and TV. people i work with spent six or seven hours walking home in 90 degree weather. another friend of mine didn't have power or running water for 2 days... i personally had my 240sx run off the road by a porsche driver who thought he could make a left turn and beat 40 mph oncoming traffic from 60 meters away because all the traffic lights were out. another friend of mine got stuck walking down 60 flights of stairs. MOST tourists in time's square got kicked out of their hotels and spent the night on the sideawlk. not to mention the cost to the economy in general. i think it was estimated at 170 million? i forgot. but seroiusly, for this whole NYC/NJ area, it was pretty damn dehibilitating. |
