KA/SR swap Tranny sensor questions
I was installing my s13 180SX redtop Sr20det in the place of my old Ka24DE in a 91 240sx fastback. There are some tranny sensors I am confused about. I would post pics, but imagestation is down.
On my Ka24, there are five sensors, a speed sensor, and four others. On the Sr there was only three, a speed sensor, and two others. I know why though. My Ka has cruise control, and the Sr doesn't. I am assuming they both have sensors for reverse lights, and the clutch for starting the car. The Ka has two most likely involving cruise control I know nothing about. The only two sensors I really know how to hook up are the speed sensor and the one closest to it. They are both the farthest back on the tansmissions. One last thing... when I switch the plugs on my SR tranny to the Ka plugs for my KA wiring, how do you know which wire is which? Or does it matter? Thanks in advance, Joey

I'm in the same boat
I just bought an S14 that has already been swapped. The speedo, odo, and cruise control don't work. I need to check the sensors that you are looking at. How do you gain access? Do you go through the inside via the stick, or underneath the car? How could you tell your SR did not have CC? Just by the number of sensors? Your a few steps ahead of me. Hopefully someone can help us both out.

I found out that the clutch in sensor is on the pedal itself.
this is a quote from another forum...KA tranny plugs: speed sensor, neutral position, 4th gear, 5th gear, reverse. 4th and 5th gear sensors are for the speed limiter, it kicks in the speed limiter at around 5000 rpms in 4th and 5th gear. You dont really need theses. SR: speed, reverse, neutral (or 5th?) As for when you switch the plugs, the plugs corespond to each switch, so you cant mix them up by accident. Clutch/Start switch is on the pedal, right above the cruise control switch. *posted by Nismo1182 Also, I could tell because there was no vacuum box with a secondary throttle cable leading to my throttle body on the SR engine. hey guys i just experienced this problem, the stock ka tranny harness plugs in place just fine, on connector doesnt get used, i think it has 2 yellow/color wires, i guess you have to change the speedo sensor, not sure but i have to since my speedo dont work :
i have the 180sx s13 blacktop( same as redtop) in a 93 fastback chassis, that came with a manual tranny if you need to know |

302inmy240- The Blacktop has different tranny sensors. Also, my Sr plugs wont plug into my ka plugs, I spliced the necissary plugs from my ka tranny to the Sr tranny.
