s14 butterfly brace

i was lookin at the flyin maita site Flyin' Miata : Chassis : Stiffening : FM butterfly brace

and they have that butterfly brace which looks pretty neat and more clean than a cage but of course probably not as good either. but, yeah i was wondering if a s14 would benefit from this? any ideas or if someone sells this thing and it works =)

the same idea as an H brace or even a floor bar for that matter.

i know i did not feel shit when my floor bar was installed.

id suggest working on a different suspension set up with the $400 dollars better spent on something else.

its just one of those items that is bought for the "ooooo neato" factor.

and i believe that you might experience some sort of placebo when it was installed and think the car actually was stiffer.

i've personally been looking into bracing myself.

my personal opinion is if you do an X brace to connect the frame rails under your S chassis, i think it WILL make a difference. this is only speculation, however i feel others will agree.

i remember something about S15s having addtional bracing in the tranny tunnel and under there more so than S13s and S14s. i searched quick, i can't remember where i saw pictures of that.

if you want to brace, definitly do fender braces and a nismo power brace. i just made my own nismo power brace, and there are huge benefits.

ooohhh i see i see, i just want to get the maximum amount of chassis stiffening and stuff like that without needing a cage. and boltable stuff =) so if i ever wanna sell it of course i can =). i saw that s15 tranny brace before too.

my real question is how would we common folk measure the amount of stiffness increase u know. doubt we'd have the tools to do it though =(

There was a Japan company that made a similar piece that was later copied over here, used to see them on Ebay. It bolted into the rails and tied into the front crossmember. It's been a few years sine I've seen anything but a good welder could mock up something quick without having to pay out the ass for ultra rare JDM only parts or their shitty US knockoffs.

Do it. Custom, not manufactured.

Chass-stiff + tranny tunnel = not solid.

Friend has the tranny brace, s13
bought decades ago but I forget the brand
IIRC HKS Kansai (sp?) division made bracing products for s-chassis
don't know if they're still available though
also the Nismo 270R came with various chassis bracing pieces worth looking into
