ok so i fixed the sr FINALLY. it was oil starvation.. thankflly no damage done. i think my alternator may be bad because when i start it up, everything is fine. car idles ~800-900 and revs up at will. the problem is, when i rev it up to like 6-7k when the idle comes back down it either idles at 1500 or fluctuates till it dies and then the car stops having throttle response and dies out, then when i try to start it, the battery doesnt give out enough juice to kick the SR over. so i recharged the batt and tried again. when i turn o my lights, with the car on, they rise SLLLOOOOOOOOW. and my winsheild wipers are like errrrrrrrrrk, errrrrrrrrk, and then the car dies. so, i think the alt is bad and the batt is dead. Im goin to get a new optima battery and then try to use my KA24DE alternator. will that be a bolt on? i mean will the KA24DE alternator bolt onto the SR? thanks for the help guys. later

I will attempt to help..
I have heard that the ka alternator will fit, but one of the bolt holes wont line up. you can install it without it i think,..

as for the battery, it may be both.. you may have a few dead cells in teh batt, and the alt may not be charging it anyway..

take the car to autozone, if its driving, and they can test both the alternator as well as the battery for free..

if the alternator was totally dead the car couldnt run at all
so if its on its way out... that would explain the dying.. hope that helped.. good luck

Hey, Ya...the same thing happened to me a couple days ago. I tried turning on the stereo but it would just turn on and then turn off after like 5 seconds. Then i tried the lights and like you, they would slowly go up and slowly go down. Then i tried the windshield wipers and it went half way and totally died on me right there. So the next day i took off the battery and went to sears to get it checked and yawp, they said it was dead. So got a new one and everything is super now. Hope that helped.
