car just cranks, does not start, details inside!!!!!
hello all. i am new here but not new to cars at all. i bought my 1989 240sx from a friend with the engine torn out and apart. it started off having no electrical power at all <no lights, HVAC, radio, etc> after the engine was rebuilt and reinstalled. we later found that the 75amp alternator fuse had popped. removed and replaced the alternator fuse, great. car had all electrical accessories, started and ran ok for a while, then dies. now i did have a code 12, MAF circuit. i checked all wires to pcm, completely tore down harness and found nothing, all wires have continuity. what the shop manual says is that terminal C, white wire, should have voltage, but there is none. however, if i supply ignition voltage to the white wire, the car starts and runs, just horribly, emmitting alot of black smoke and poor idle quality<very rich>. if disconnected, the car idles smoothes out, but the car dies. i have changed MAFs, same.
is this a common issue some of you have? i checked a running 240SX and the white wire does not have voltage with ignition turned on. i am stumped. ![]() please help |

^^^Why would you do that? You are messing up your ignition timing moving your distributor one way or the other. Get a timing gun and make sure your timing is right.
Either that, or sounds like your not getting enough fuel or so. If its too rich, you can try unpluggin egi pump and try starting to see if it catches. |
