I love my 94 240sx convertible... yes, stock it is very slow and there is no option for manual (my two gripes). BUT where else could I find a RWD import convertible with a backseat for under $30k? The car has great tuning potential and is relatively easy to work on yourself.

Dude I'm gonna bitch the couple things that are bad about owning a 240... one the parking brake sticks into my leg and it hurts after awhile. (I'm 6 '3") ummm... yea thats about it.
I love the styling, handling, and overall look of the car. It could have a little bit lower chin (never thought I'd actually want a double chin) It's fun to throw around in the corners, I don't think the cornering is anything spectacular. Maybe I just haven't pushed it hard enough. Fun car... I paid $15k 4 months ago for mine and don't regret one dime! Jeff |

Dude - I too am 6'3" and the e-brake is in a very odd position. I can't put my leg b/w the e-brake and the sterring wheel when I get in to start the car. I have to keep my leg under the steering wheel till car is started, then relase e-brake, and then hit brake with foot. Kinda sucks, and is inconvienant. I forgot about it, b/c I've become oblivious to it. Just another Ergonimic quirk.

First off....I have a 93 Hatch.
Oh wow....I thought I was the only one who had the handbrake stick into my right quad....nice to know there are others who know what a pain that is. Other negatives, well...the other day I realized that if you are gonna run the windshield wipers, make sure your driver side window is UP. The excess wiper fluid gets thrown above the door, then proceeds to drip on your left knee...right about the same spot where the handbrake sticks into your right leg...but on the left instead. Weak-ass factory stereo.....and hard to get to factory speaker locations. Crap brown interior plastic color that my car came with. It's seriously Hershey brown (I've ordered Krylon spray dye....in gloss black....we'll see how that goes in a week or so) Four lugs......non LSD, non digital climate control, liscense plate mounting hole drilled into my front bumper (and we dont have 2 plates in my state either) No drink holder. Pop up headlight look like a frog's face. Wheel gap.....pizza cutter 15's ___________________ LIKES!! Torque.....RWD...handling....rarity....upgradibili ty (SR....SilEighty convo with Xenon light makes it look like a Beamer....JDM goodies like Bomex and JUN) Styling....power antenna, folding mirrors, clean lines, low cost, nice cargo space under hatch, turbo-ready KA. Something else I like is the fact that you can take a totally stock S13 or S14....and after a few exterior mods....it looks like a totally different YET wicked car. Since the car is rare anyways, when you add to the car (body kit, lower suspension, rims, etc) the car becomes even more exotic looking...and becomes even more unique. For example....a civic with rims and body kit still looks like a civic...but a 240sx with the same looks like something completely new to the US market. m |

Likes: The engineering of the chassis and suspension. The stock KA or the KA in general is torquey. Great for daily driving. The inside of an S13 and an S14 feels like a real sports car instead of an average passenger car. The FR (front engine, rear-wheel drive) format is enticing and quite different from most of the FF cars out there (duh). If possible, going sideways.
Hates: Worn out S13 seats...well okay, the stock S13 seats in general. Is it me? Or do they sorta suck? KA's lack of high end power..then again, that can be fixed *coughturbocough*. The fact that an S14 conversion is available for Honda cars, but never for 95-96 S14's! On fastbacks, rust under the spoilers. >_< Let's see, EGR or "engine check light" problems. The e-brake being at an odd spot. No cupholders. The backseat is very uncomfortable on both S13's and S14's (I've ridden in both). Um...I think that's it. Dislikes:(S13)
The seats don't sit as low as I want them to, and they don't hold you as tight as they should. The car sits too high. I can almost fit my head between the tire and and the fender. I don't like the sealed beam headlights. The ones back home in Japan all had h4(easier to work with and find lights for). They should've came with bigger breaks in the front. I would prefer the CA or SR in the S13's than the Ka engine. The fact that they don't have atleast a VLSD in them. don't need the sunroof or the convertable, thats a sacrelege(I think thats how you spell it). Likes: Its a pretty rare car here in the states( they're like roaches in japan, they're everywhere). Like the fact that stock parts from other nissans can be used to upgrade the car. handles pretty good for a stock car thats over ten years old. I like the way the dash is layed out where the center console kinda flows into the shifter like the 300zx and other sports cars. Car still looks good compare to some of the newer sports cars. Easy to drive. Even though I'm not too fond of the KA engine , it does have that torque the SR and the CA lack in the low end. I love them. I'm on my third S13 9 first one in the states) . I don't really like the S14 because there too big and the seats make me feel like I'm in a luxury car and not a sports car. |

On the issue of 89-94 240sx' as with all cars with pop-up lights, they somtimes freeze up, or get stuck up. And I dont like how 89-90 Have SOHC versies DOHC in the 91+.
Also I dont like the coupe tail lights (coupes and convertables same tail lights 89-94) and I dont like the maroon paint job on the cars, red is good, maroon is NOT good. Also ive seen some cream colored ones (eww) which are awful. And on the issue of liking, I like everything else about the 240sx'. Their sporty look, their nice stock HP, Upgradable and Customizable features (Engine / body / Front end conversions / JDM Parts / Ect ect). I also like that they dont have to be decked out to look kewl, and If i dont deck out my 240 it wil still be kewl, and if i ever get the money to deck it out it will just get kewler. I still have never driven a 240, but today my mom and dad (my dads a machanic) are going to look at this 90' 240 for me, for around 2100 (Red, Black interior, 5spd, Fastback, 110,000 Miles, Florida car, no rust, Suposidly Mint Condition) and hopfully when i get home their will be a 240 waiting for my arival from school. Ill cont. with the things i like about 240s once i get mine, and learn how to drive a stick.... :-D |

I'm honestly wondering about this. Did you not own a coupe first? Oh, uhm, and to the person considering a 240 - you want one. I mean, yeah, I sold mine. But I miss it. Not enough to go get another (I do love my current car) or anything, but I definately do miss it, and as such, recommend you get one. Simply put, the coupe is just a dream to drive. But, that brings me back to my original question. So, toddnappi, what's up with that ragtop of yours? |

I have a 95 and its real nice car.
Bought it used for $3700, just need new brake pads and my rear speakers were blown. But that situation has been fixed. I really like the car, but before I ran into it I never saw a S-14 around where I live. The last time I saw one was the 240 in Fast and Furious, phat ride. What's weird is that once I bought it I started seeing the car everywhere, in fact some guy has a 95 base model in the same color as mine (Blue Emerald) and he lives 30 ft away from me. Anywho, must of the good points of the car have been mentioned. The only things that get to me is the lack of power and no cupholder. There's a place to put my drinks, but only small sizes. Also that get in the way when I want to rest my hand on the shifter. As for the engine it ok, but not what I thought the car was up to. I'm always getting into races simply because of the looks of my car. So far I been spanked by two preludes. But in time i will hook up the perfromance and probably do a S-15 conversion. Right now, i'm just saving up and taking car of my ride. |
